Position/Title: Partnership Manager

Reports To: Community Engagement Manager

Exempt/Non-exempt: Non-Exempt

General Description:

Responsible for agency, focus group and investment partner relationships. Manages the certification and investment processes related to undesignated donations that United Way invests in local nonprofit collaborative groups. Administrative responsibilities include reporting and tracking the impacts of community investment, maintaining stellar agency and partner relationships and quarterly education, health and financial stability collective impact initiatives. Develops and conducts training on effective reporting related to Community Investment and focus group Initiatives. Develops and recruits quality assurance committee members and administrates all aspects of quarterly meetings of the group and one-on-one advisory sessions with agencies. Also helps identify potential funding that could support collective impact and for collecting and providing relevant data to secure funding to agency development staff. Coordinates partner participation in speaking engagements for United Way events. Responsible for the solicitation, maintenance and review of non-profit partner certification, success stories, application for support, and follow up reporting needed from partners.


Essential Functions:
United Way Community Investment Process

  • Revise & update online application for UWEC application and certification processes

  • Agency training & support for successful application for UWEC funding

  • Recruit and manage 100 Community Investment volunteers to serve on panels that make funding recommendations

  • Recruit and train staff liaisons for the Community Investment panels and Quality Assurance committee

  • Schedule & coordinate site visits/oral presentations for all applicants for funding

  • Schedule & coordinate speakers for United Way presentations as needed

  • Manage & facilitate panel deliberations

  • Prepare funding recommendations for Executive Committee & Board of Directors

  • Prepare and send EOM report to Board Liaison and Director of HR/ADMIN for approval by the 10th business day of the month.

  • Conduct follow-up with survey of Community Investment Volunteers & participating agencies for continuous improvement of investment process

  • Schedule and facilitate successful focus groups to encourage responsiveness to community issues and growth of agency collective response

  • Schedule and facilitate timely reporting of agency progress toward promised goals

  • Provide continuous improvement to process to include process streamlining & improved technology

  • For HSAC (Human Service Appropriations Committee Allocations)

    • Coordinate with county staff and elected officials to ensure General Fund allocations to United Way are available as added funding for the Community Investment Process

    • Make sure county priorities are included in the agency training

    • Prepare & present funding recommendations for Board of County Commissioners


United Way Agency Partner Certification Process

  • Solicit and assist with applications by new partner organizations applying to become certified partners

  • Revise & update certification requirements

  • Make certification information public & send information to inquiring local non profit organizations.

  • Agency training & support for successful partnership applications

  • Review certification packets and partner information to ensure information accuracy and current status

  • Send requests for updated agency information to all certified partners annually based on cert renewal date


United Way Quality Assurance Committee

  • Solicit volunteers and train them on the quality assurance committee responsibilities

  • Schedule quarterly QA meetings and prepare agenda and materials as needed for QA review

  • Schedule and attend one-on-one meetings between QA committee members and agencies in need of support

  • Take minutes at one-on-one and quarterly QA meetings and prepare these for presentation to the Community Investment committee


Breakthrough Funding and RFP Process

  • As determined appropriate by the board, manage breakthrough funding & applicable application for the funds

  • Publicize RFP funds availability and support organizations applying for breakthrough funding


Planning and Research

  • Staff level strategic planning to implement strategies to meet community impact & corporate strategic goals

  • Conduct local and national best practices research to present to Board committees and staff

  • Research partner funding and available resources as requested by staff leadership and campaign team

  • Coordinate survey of community on a bi-annual basis and self-assessment on a three year rotation


Physical Requirements:

  • Physically, the Partnership Manager should have the capacity to be extremely mobile, therefore all physical attributes necessary for driving independently.

  • Capable of lifting 35-40 pounds minimum.

  • Capable of working atypical hours during the week.


Experience Requirements:

 Public Speaking.

 Program creation and organization.

 Willingness and ability to learn.



  • Willingness and ability to be a team player.


Skills:

 Public Speaking.

 Computer literacy in Microsoft products.


  • Intuitive skills and high degree of competency in computer skills

  • Ability to effectively manage Apricot computer program

 Good oral and written communication skills.

 Diplomatic problem solving.

 Organizational skills.


  • High demonstration of effective reporting from research and statistical analysis

  • Effective volunteer management

 Outgoing and enthusiastic personality.

 Ability to sell and market the United Way mission to the community.



Principle Expectations:

  • Works in conjunction with United Way Directors, Board Members, Agency Partners, Community Partners and other volunteers to coordinate and implement successful investment in key focus areas.

  • Sets, tracks, and maintains annual goals, follows-up with recognition,

  • Performs and presents in a manner that positively reflects upon the organization and its partner agencies.
