Objectives of the Course

This course aims to provide the student the skills of scientific thinking and approach to be able to conduct scientific research in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation, which includes the scientific research methods, organization, classification and evaluation of data collected.

Learning Outcomes

By the completion of this course, expected student learning outcomes are the student’s ability:

      • To explain basic concepts of scientific process;

      • To explain the steps of the scientific method;

      • To explain both of quantitative and qualitative research methods;

      • To choose appropriate research methods and approaches to solve the formulated research problems;

      • To prepare a questionnaire for research;

      • To explain research designs;

      • To choose appropriate statistical tests for hypothesis;

      • To explain the scientific reporting process;




Course Content

This course will introduce students to the field of scientific research methods including four main components: 1) Scientific Philosophy; 2) Quantitative Research Techniques; 3) qualitative research techniques; and 4) Research Designs.
