OFFICIAL MSC RESEARCH PROJECT
3.8 METHOD OF DATA ANALYSIS

The data analyzed in this study were obtained from primary sources through the administration of questionnaires. To extract valuable information and extract meaning from each data collected Simple Statistical analysis and appropriate tables was used to evaluate individual research questions.

Charts showing frequency distribution were used to present the variables like: the children’s relationship with newspapers; frequency of accessibility; their media literacy; their general evaluation about newspapers, and its future in a technological world. Other minor variables included their demographics, hobbies, etc.
Data was analyzed manually with simple arithmetic. Though, this pattern of data analysis is criticized for being so cumbersome and sometimes inconsistent, it is nevertheless useful in certain instances (Sobowale, 2003).
TESTING – PILOT SURVEY
Questionnaire design was fraught with difficulties and problems. A number of rewrites was necessary, together with refinement and rethinks on a regular basis.
To refine the questionnaire a pilot survey was conducted. Amendments to questions were made to give accurate responses relevant to our study. After making some amendments, the new version was re-tested.
