Fishing was tuff today but it was fun getting to meet just about the whole fourm today. My heart goes out to anibus and his son's Nintendo DS. Looks like he'll have to settle with playing soccer with croakers. Well the total for today was croakers, one cero and a couple cut offs Chris says they were snook but i dont know.

Was there at the pier like around 9 in the morning. At that time the sea was so calm and there was no wind and also the water was so clear you could see a dime if you dropped one. I met Kclancy like around 10 or 11. (By the way good fishing with you K.) It was slow all day for me and few other guys. I was catching Croakers and in the mix up I caught a Pompano. It was nice seeing you Tom. Later in the afternoon the wind started to pick up and I wanted to try my luck at the "T" to see if I was lucky to catch some Snapper, while Kclancy stayed in the middle of the pier with EnglishFisher trying their luck on catching Snook. Kclancy came over and had no luck in catching Snook, by the way "THANKS" for the Mack, K! I had no luck in the T, but I hope RooferDave had better luck then me. I left at 11:30pm. It was nice fishing with all of you, hope to see you guys next weekend!!!

Fished friday from around 8:30AM-3:00PM water was chrystal clear and loaded with cudas. Met Kclancy out there And I geuss the guy he was fishing with was Anubiss Had to resort to tube lures by about noon Nothing No hits on the shark rods One Live cuda and one butterflied Tried snagging some croaker at the first house and ended up snagging massive gogs one after the other I did see to macs skyrocket when I was packing it up threw a gotcha for a little with no luck. I was the guy in the hat, It's lucky

BTW:That guy that was working there is hilarious

got out there this evening, didnt see much, a guy next to me got a horse eye jack, which i too threw out live and it remained unhassled for the 2 -3 hours i stayed. I did get 12 moonfish most "to big for the toaster" as tom and others would say! lol! and all on shrimp or aptly, a moonfish jig.

I really hate going on the weekends but I went today becasue the girlfriend wanted to go to the beach. It was slow croakers and sand perch. Got bored and tried feeding croakers to cudas.. anyways

If the wind picks up tomorrow and the weather starts to get nasty i'm probably going to pull a afternoon session tomorrow anyone else going? PM me i'll give out my number.

Finally a change..
It was windy, wet and cold .. perfect weather for the macks. Only 3-4 people fishing. Macks being caught on all artificials. Tried shrimp but the macks would just rob you. Left with 3 of my own macks and 2 given to me. Caught my 3 on crappie jigs within my first 15 cast or so. Also got cut off a record 11 times haha.

by englishfisher » Mon Feb 12, 2007 9:44 pm

went out for about 2 hours this afternoon, as kclancy said it was bloody cold and wet, the macs were biting, but t was hard to fish in the conditions, i couldnt feel my hands they were so cold and wet!
Got 4 macs, 3 on an x-rap, and 1 on a crappie jig. Im not sure how many times i got cut off! lol!

I was gonna go in late and hit the pier this morning, but srugged it off due to the water the last few days being clear, I was 0 for 2hours on saturday. guess I missed out too....cold windy front moving our way late in the week?!????

by BoatlessFisherman » Tue Feb 13, 2007 2:13 pm

Pompano Bite was good this morning, Spanish bite was not so good.

If I am right the pompano will come in thicker and so will the macks, i would think we will get a replay of yesterday with more macks today from 3pm until dark.

Oh yea I know of three keeper Snook caught and I heard the Snook bite was good sometime between 2am and 6am.

Water was GREAT when I was there this morning, Super Fishy, I could not stay long because I had alot of stuff to do, but may go back tonight to check on the shrimp situation in the water.

Fishy Fishy Fishy thats what I say about today

by englishfisher » Thu Feb 15, 2007 1:47 am

Conditions werent so good this morning, the water was crystal clear, there was some current, but it didnt make enough difference, no macs caught between 7 am and 12 pm when i was there, just croakers, a few gogs, and runners. i saw 2 big mojarras aswell. I saw rooferdave and he had some snapper hits before sun up but no fish came up. He did get multiple 15 - 20 lb sharks though, fairly consistantly from what i gathed from him.

Was soaking fleas and jigging all morning to little avail, got one beautiful hit on a sand flea from what turned out to be a smallish permit, but he rubbed me off under the pier in the pilings. he got 1 piling to far from me and i couldnt get down and around it fast enough with all the lighting cables and a 10 foot pomp rod! lol!

by pier kid » Sat Feb 17, 2007 12:49 am

yea, nothing goin on there tonight. I fished from about 8pm to around 11.

Nothing caught while I was there, but Tom said some snapper and a small reef shark were caught a bit earlier. I caught a cuddlefish on a piece of cut ballyhoo at the middle house, only other thing caught were some small grunts.

by BoatlessFisherman » Sat Feb 17, 2007 10:08 am

Saw Beach fisher and he got his dinner and that included a Snapper and Porgy and I believe he had other fishys, I saw a couple of more 15 inch mangroves leave for the frying pan and Know of two 30 or 40 lb sharks caught, Strngray stopped by to fish with his buddys and they got a few fish, I am sure he will have a report, good to see you Strngray.

Good to see you again James380 man it was cold dude

Cold cold cold Brrrrrrr, Got of went out on the pier the roofer had been there a little bit and he had a nice mutton already in his cooler, I put baits out on the reef line, that was a misstake because all i found was a big eel, took a walk out to the roofer and he had another Nice Mutton. it was sun up and I was wiped out from working so I grabbed some breakfast and headed home, not sure what else the roofer got, but Riccardo was there so I am sure he will give us and update.

Water was clear, but there was small swells rolling in and a huge pod of Gogs, a NW cold breeze blowing

not much after you left, tommy, dave got another mutton, just one inch short and then it was dead. the pod were not gogs but small blue runners, I got a couple of them and tossed out on my rods, they sat for about one hour, untouched...usual needlefish around, best thing was probably one of the most wonderful dawns I've seen, sky was perfectly clear, I'll post some pics asap

btw, night was not so bad for me, I fished for three hours hillsboro inlet at low tide before showin' up at anglins. Got a couple of hooks up on snooks, first spit the hook, second cut me on a pilon, then I got a nice sheephead on a live shrimp, 20 inches and I swear 4-5 pounds

SUN- 6:30 AM-7 PM ... VERY COLD... IT RAINED EARLY JUST 20 MINUTES AFTER I GOT THERE SO NOW IM COLD , WET , TIRED , AND MY GEAR IS BEING SCATTERED ALL DOWN THE PIER FROM THE WIND. GREAT WAY TO START A DAY OF FISHING. WHERE DID ALL THE MOJARRES COME FROM. THEY MUST LIKE THE COLD WEATHER CAUSE THATS ALL I SEEN. DAMN PUFFERS AND BIRDS. OH YEAH THEM TOO. I THINK IM WINDBURNED. ANYWAYS A BAD DAY OF FISHING IS BETTER THAN A GREAT DAY AT WORK. BY THE WAY TOMMY YOU'RE RIGHT THE SILVER MOJARRES AINT BAD I DEEPFRIED EM.

Well not to be picky but this thread keeps sliding off topic, just post a new thread I don't mind other threads, I would like to limit this thread to Fishing Reports and Congrats' Remarks.

As for the fishing today, Hello El'Mackerel - well I found some macks today so did Dave and also Ricky---> Noodlerod, Man you got to love it when you watch the Macks come and swipe your "Arti" Anyways we had alot of that and it was cool! I caught a good few, not going to say a number we will just say it was a good day and I will leave it open for the next.

Saw a nice Hogfish caught, a couple of 5 gallon buckets full of Croakers and Sand Perch <---"? Moharras ?", it seemed, though, that it was better in the morning, were as lately it has been the afternoon bite, I think.

I am going to move some stuff out in this thread and make new threads when I get done fishing in a couple of days.

by noodlerod10 » Tue Feb 20, 2007 12:47 am

Yeah the macks were thick today. Dave and Tom killed them. I got there a little on the late side to get the big bite but was still there to land a few and lose even more. Lost one close to 10 lbs guessing right at the pier. Lots of Croakers being caught too. Well just got in from work so good luck fishing all.

wildcat wrote:o i was there i think yesterday and someones mack got taken by a pelican.that fishes a baitrunner and a speros

Hey wildcat/Boatless don't tell me the mack action started after I left

man, just my luck. And per boatless, the croakers were out in full force......why did I have to read that post....Whhhhyyyyy
Anyhow I met wildcat aka TLD after 2am this morning and it was a bit cold and the fishing was slow. Bait fish was hard to come by with only one gog by TLD in the slick. I was catching small grunts when TLD hooked into something big on one of his small rods that had a piece of shrimp on it. He called me over told me to get the bridge garf because he had hooked a nice mack, this was around 3:30-4am. He gafed it and brought it over. Great job TLD.
I also managed to loose my bait rod later on, when it went sailing over the railings after something grabbed the line but TLD hooked it about 30mins later while checking his line. Thanks again dude I thought that was the last time I would have seen it
The rest of the morning was also slow with a few macks now and again.
Sand perch were out and I also caught a 12inch hog fish (my first:D
I also caughn a 16inch lizard fish, biggest I have ever seen and a trump fish (I think thats what TLD said it was).
All in all it was fun and thanks for the company and the fish TLD.
Tight lines to all.

Hit the pier early Thur morning and by 3 am I was the only person on the pier til 730 am when I finally got some company. The water was like a pond and crystal clear slow north bound current and got just what I was expecting from the conditions. I saw 4 nice slot size or better snook hanging around but they refused live shrimp took me an hour to finally catch a grunt and even this offering wehnt refused byt the linesiders. Had a manatee cruising the pier for awhile and counted the minutes til the sun came up, listening to a few tarpon crushing the needlefish and ballys out of casting range. Once the sun came up same conditions no macks seen just the same huge school of croakers with alot of google eyes mixed in. Managed to bug up a google eye and tried to feed him to the snook. The snook were long gone but had a 15 lb. or so aj nail him and managed to spit the hook. Bugged up 14 gogs and a few croakers and tried for the snook again, managed a 22 inch or so snook that was released to grow up he had a larger friend cruising with him who refused to eat. I had the manatee still cruising around the pier once the sun came up it has been awhile since I have seen one by the pier but this one seemed to like the place. Overall a disappointing day of fishing but froze some gogs for the Tortugas season so not a total loss.

more of the same this morning....got on just before 7, calm and clean(weather report was for 12-15 ne wind?!) slow all morning, got cut twice from loner macks, saw 2 go skyrocketing thru some bait, but no hook ups. Roofer was there, had no takers on the bottom rods while I was there but wind was pickin up as I was leaving....conditions probably improved in the afternoon for spanish. South or South East wind all weekend.....see some of you there on Sunday

y kclancy » Fri Feb 23, 2007 7:38 pm
