Fished the pier 6-10pm. Landed 2 Pomps then it rained hard.

After the rain cleared, bluefish were hitting the sandfleas.
Made for a fun evening.

This one lady caught a Pomp. She took too long to land it, and SLAM!!

Baracuda jumped 2 feet in the air and grabbed that pomp for his dinner.
What a sight for those that got to see that quick action.

hey there everybody... I've been a long time lurker on this forum, and am an active poster on the fs forum... I finally figured I might as well just join in...

Well... I fished Anglin's for the first time today with Danny aka bridge rat... bait was fairly thick in shallow -lots of small pilchards, dines... there were a couple very nice summer-sized pilchards in the mix...

There also was a nice school of mullet running the beach.. closely followed by some nice creavalles... One fella picked up a jack around #12 on a pitched livie...

I soaked a crab on the north side -mid pier- all day..... nada

the croaker bite was steady in shallow...
around mid afternoon a school of nice sized palometas showed up in the trough... and shortly after... the pompano bite broke loose... Huge schools of 20+ fish were around and slamming jigs right and left... I caught 8 and called it quits after that...

Went to anglins yesterday (4/14) and the very minute that I arrived at around 8 AM, Blues were biting. As soon as I casted my line, I got at HIT,(on sand fleas, lol )...Robbie were pretty much leading the group where the big blues school are, jigging here and there...It's a blast!!! It stayed that way up until 2 pm and it died down...Then Pompano started hittin'...OMG, there's a lot of 'em...Most of the us got their limit for it's non-stop....
The best part was, I got the chance to fish with great guys, ROBBIE,KENNY,TLD-CHRIS, BLAINE, CUBAN EXPRESS...
I had a GREAT time!!!!

i decided to hit old unfaithful last night. got to the pier right bufore sundown and i heard people saying that the pomps and blues were hittin pretty good earlier. while i was there i saw a few blues landed and 1 pompano. i didn't even get a hit on live shrimp or ballyhoo. me and my dad decided to go to those docks on the other side of sea legs III on a1a. the current was faster than usual and 2 oz of wieght wouldnt cut it. a guy gave us some squid and i put some out. i ended up falling asleep and my dad woke me up asking if i was ready to go. i said ya and started to reel my rod in and lo and beholod i had a fish! it was only a 4 in. grunt but it was something. he swam free. i just realized that i made this long post about a 4 inch fish

I've been in Florida 3 years now and yesterday was the first time I have ever tried fishing for pompano...and it was a blast. Despite the heavy winds and occassional rain, I hit the 6 catch limit within a few hours. Many thanks to all the regulars there who helped me land several of my catches.

On a side note, I have a Hollywood parking pass, and since Dania Beach is actually Hollywood, is my pass valid there?

Last time I was at the pier they had done away with the parking pass. Yes, I believe it is metered parking only now. I even saw The City of Dania enforcing the parking lot and printing citations (I have never seen them do this after 6pm, then all of a sudden). I've also been told you can now park in the restaurant parking area with a valid ticket printed by the master meter. Free parking is only granted to patrons of the restaurant when dining. (They also get a free pier pass).

As for your "Hollywood" parking pass, I'm only aware of the "Dania" parking pass granted to residents of Dania. To optain this pass is something you have to provide proof of residence at the City Hall.

UPDATE UPDATE

This just in: It seems the pier and the city are working together again.

Anglers can purchase a $4 parking pass, and must park by Whisky Creek.
Also, it's not the City of Dania handing out citations, it's BSO.

And last night I fished from 7-10pm and caught 2 Pomps, it was a slow night.

we now return you to your regular programming.

Saturday AM was pretty darn slow, but it was awesome to get out with pals Rijkaard, BF and Xtheline and watch a spectacular sunrise anyway.

I heard the pomps came in decently in the afternoon LONG after I had gone, but the AM was quite slow indee

by Rijkaard » Sat Apr 21, 2007 11:56 pm

good things:

- people (as usual)
- lots of bait (hoos, sardines, big pilchards)
- a wonderful sunrise
- a couple of pompanos blasts

bad things:

most of the day it was damned slow

Anglins report - saturday april 21st

Time: 4am - 7pm

Wind: light west wind until early morning, then turned east and reinforced until 20mph in the evening

Water: good green color

Current: N to S

Bait: lots of hoos, sardines and pilchards everywhere, from the surf to the middle hut until about mid morning. Sardines seemed to like mostly small red sabiki (they didn't look at my green one), I had pretty good success with ballyhoos with a floater and a small golden hook with small piece of shrimp.

Main catches:
slow for the most part of the day, but something came up:
-pompanos in the afternoon (from 4 to 6pm), decent size (12-14")
-scattered macks here and there medium to small size
-a 5-6 pound crevelle caught by a 5'4" guy with a 13' rod, he made the effort of his life with that setup
-a nice gray trigger fish 14-15"
-good size moonfish at night

Anglins 4/22

Hit the pier this morning at daybreak hoping for a good pompano bite despite the reports of an afternoon bite. Well I should have slept in. Got one pomp at daybreak on the jig and thats and thats it. Saw three different schools of jacks come through that all had fish pushing 30 lbs or better in them. Amazingly no one hooked one up. I tried to stick it out for the afternoon but my hunger got the best of me. I guess i cant get em all the time.
