The Epsilon Challenge

Timeframe: 20 – 104 weeks
The purpose of the Epsilon Challenge is to become a mentor in the chapter, campus, and community and to learn the value of servant leadership. These purposes should serve as a guiding principle for all challenge programming. If an event will not successfully advance these purposes, then it is not worth the chapter’s time.
The following section includes three items: (1) a diagram of the overall challenge cycle, (2) descriptions of every event outlined in the diagram, and (3) the challenge tracker.
Do not forget that this development program is a living document; creativity and improvements are encouraged. However, the program should remain written to allow for the following years to build on the program, not reinvent it.

Event Description

2

Challenge Review & Info

The coordinator(s) will outline the challenge, giving members all required documents and information.

3

Facilitate the SigEp Involvement Fair

Members in the Epsilon Challenge are expected to organize and facilitate the SigEp Involvement Fair. The SigEp Involvement Fair will take place at night and will connect brothers who are involved in the campus and community with brothers who are looking to expand their involvement. The house will be split up into different sections for different organizations and majors, and brothers can roam the halls checking out the different ways they can get involved.

4

Workshop on How to be a Mentor. +LROB Reading Due

The coordinator(s) will organize a workshop about how to be a successful mentor. Older members with successes as a mentor or external sources with knowledge on the subject should be sough out. Furthermore, a LROB Reading assignment will be due, assigned at an earlier time.

6

Leadership Analysis and Case Study (e.g. Hitler)

The coordinator(s) will research and present an interesting case study on a famous leader or a juxtaposition of famous leaders. The group will then discuss the study.

10

Arms Training Trip

The coordinator will organize a group trip to receive training in some sort of arms. A good example is a trip to the American Shooting Center gun range in San Diego.

12

Discussion about each other’s leadership goals in the next year. +LROB Reading Due

The coordinator will facilitate an open discussion with the group about each other’s leadership goals over the next year. The conversation should allow for brothers to lend advice and connections to each other.

14

Reflections on Mentorship. Share Successes and Failures.

The challenge group will be given time to openly discuss their successes and failures as mentors.
