Virtual Organisation cluSTER
Project Summary
The aim of VOSTER is to collect, analyse and synthesize the results from a number of leading European research projects on Virtual Organisation (VO), i.e. geographically distributed, functionally and culturally diverse, dynamic and agile organisational entities linked through ICT.
The scientific and technological objectives of VOSTER are to:
1. Consolidate VO related concepts and their relationships, VO types, characteristics and indicators;
2. Identify and recommend useful approaches for VO modelling;
3. Identify relevant technologies and standards and assess their potential for VOs;
4. Define functions of VO infrastructures and suggest ways to implement them; and
5. Promote VO approaches in European industries.

Statistical indicators for the information society Measuring forms, content, strategy and impacts of B2B e-commerce
Project Summary
The project will allow for a better understanding of the B2B e-commerce development via the use of innovative models and indicators. It will help to estimate forms, content, strategies and impacts of B2B e-commerce use on competitiveness employment and potential barriers to development. It will contribute to the development of toolkits for knowledge economy measurement in a co-operative way with all stakeholders. The indicators will be designed to cover the subject in a systematic and exhaustive way through the identified domains and types of indicators. Statistical problems of the indicators and data collection techniques will be discussed. An advisory committee and contacts to the relevant institutions will give support to the important dissemination aspect of the project. The project will in various ways contribute to the programmes and key actions of the FP.

Decision Support Tools and Methods for Management and Measurement of Intellectual Assets across Co-operative Networks
Project Summary
The objective of the project is the measurement and assessment of the intellectual assets in networking organisations. It is vital for the business success of such co-operative constellations to know the value of intellectual assets that the single partner brings in and how those values perform in the network life cycle. Therefore the purpose is twofold: a) To form the basis to build up a network - where full transparency can be kept about the value of the single partners contribution. b) To manage respectively co-ordinate effectively the network on a "day to day" basis.
An Industrial Best Practice Analysis will be done. The objective is on the one hand to identify and analyse current practices and on the other hand to derive best practices via benchmarks. Then work statements structured according to user profiles and use case scenarios will be developed. Based on these results a derivation of user requirements concerning methodology and software will be possible. An Assessment Model, which reflects the intellectual assets of a company, will be developed. A developed intellectual asset structure and categories on the one hand and the measurable variables that indicate the actual network performance on the other hand will be connected via a correlation matrix.. A decision support tool will be developed (1st and 2nd prototype). The software will be implemented using evolutionary prototyping techniques, which means that after each implementation circle, the prototype will be tested and evaluated by the partners and further developed. Finally a data pooling for the developed models and the data interpretation as well as the evaluation will be carried out

Conversational Multimodal Interaction with Computers
Project Summary
COMIC combines research in software and systems engineering, with human-human and human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, and Human Factors to enable novel 3G mobile eCommerce and eWork services, in which computers, accessed from small portable terminals, act as a partner in collaborative problem solving.
COMIC's R&D will contribute to safer and healthier working environments and will strengthen Europe’s leading position in mobile telecom services.
To realise the long-term vision of an ambient intelligence landscape in which artificial agents are able to understand emerging intentions in mixed-initiative natural language conversations with a customer, COMIC will build subsequently more capable demonstrator systems, which are then used for Human Factors studies.

Intelligent Content Management System
Project Summary
The ICONS project focuses on bringing together into a coherent architecture the research results, technologies, and standards, in order to develop and exploit a web-based, knowledge and multimedia content management platform. Integrating and extending results from the AI and database management fields, combined with the emerging information architecture technologies, will result in a novel Intelligent CONtent Management System (ICONS) platform. The research results will be presented in publications. The technological achievements will be presented in the form of a prototype presented over Internet. Feasibility and added value will be demonstrated by the "NAS Best Practices" portal.
