Ayşe-Şevval-Raylaz Assignment 2, book assignment, ENG102 Final, adm1122, Adm1122 midterm
If everybody is trying to score more than the other would it not be always a status of
war between everyone and every political actor as well
Would it not be a constant war
Because all actors would want more than the other
-
international politics as a constant point zero sum game
-
would it not be always a state of war btw the actors
-
if there are no rules If there are no norms
-
if there is nobody to tell the states what to dob b-bb in all things everyone is pursuing their national interest in the powerful state
-
One of the stronger constantly seeks more power by attacking the others
and seek domination.
-
19th century we will be talking a lot about their idea that wars should be stopped
• Imagine that there's anarchy
• there is no at least minimum standard no organisation
• what happened in that time : have seen the emergence of principles norms emerging along with actors
• made them understand the necessities of complying with certain rules and norms for the existence of International board
• because if we don't have minimum rules of coexistence principles of sovereignty, respect for each other's borders and territory
• principle of nonintervention and balance of power as the ordering mechanism
• then going to be a constant state of war ; the world has witnessed in certain points of evolving to a time by mid 17th century,
• having seen these principles and agreeing among different actors making sure that the state system existed
7

- anarchical international system is our system of international order since 1648
we are still in an anarchy
• whether the Westphalian principles still hold especially with the development of the principle of humanitarian intervention, peace, responsibility
Where is the principle of Westfalia of nonintervention
• -> intervention is something which is desirable in certain cases now
• the lack of implementation making us still question the Westfalienness of our current order
