Lie on your back and place a pillow under the shoulder of the breast to be examine Extend arm above and place behind head Examine breast with opposite hand
Palpate breast tissue with the flat portion of fingers, moving in small concentric circles Palpation includes the entire breast area, using varying levels of pressure for each palpation – light, medium, deep
Squeeze the nipple for discharge Palpate along the collar bone, up into the arm pit for masses or nodules Repeat entire exam on opposite breast
