Things you should know: Normal Male Anatomy:




  • Testicular Cancer is the most common cancer in males between the ages 15 and 35

  • Perform the self - testicular exam at the same time every month

  • It’s normal for one testicle to be a little bit bigger than the other

  • The testicle should be smooth or firm

  • A hard, painless lump in the testicle is the most common sign

  • Lumps may be as small as a piece of rice or a pea

  • If you feel any bumps or lumps, visit your doctor right away









Instructions:

  1. Perform exam during or right after a hot shower or bath.

  • The warm water relaxes the skin on your scrotum and makes the exam easier




  1. Check your testicular one at a time. Use one or both hands.




  1. Cup your scrotum with one hand to see if there is any changes






  1. Place your index and middle fingers under a testicular with your thumb on top




  1. Gentally roll the testicle between your thumb and fingers

  • Feel for any lumps in or on the side of your testicle.






  1. You should be able to feel the epididymis

    1. Located at the top of the back part of each testicle (normal lump)

    2. Feels like a soft, rope-like, and slightly tender to pressure




  1. Feel along the epididymis for swelling




  1. Repeat with the other testicle

  • Perform exam monthly

  • If you notice one or more of the warning signs, see a doctor right away
