Remarks - Larry Maxwell, NS Health & Wellness (Active Living Branch) During "Celebration" of Strategy Oct 20 & 21, 2014:

" Good morning everyone. My name is Larry Maxwell. I'm the Regional Representative for the NS Department of Health & Wellness ...(Active Living Branch). It is my pleasure to work day-in and day-out with people who dedicate their time and efforts to creating a healthier future. Our department has a cost-shared partnership with the Municipality of Victoria County to develop and implement the physical activity plan (Naturally Active Victoria County).

Good health is a shared responsibility and the partnership we've developed here in Victoria County is working very well. The future we want for our children, youth and citizens is to live long, happy, healthy lives. But many things threaten that future. Right across North America, we are struggling with a society that needs to be more active to secure that healthy future. And that's exactly what we're doing - together - here in Victoria County.

Vince Forrestall is doing a great job leading at the front of the physical activity plan. Fortunately, he also has a lot of support - the municipality's CAO (Sandy Hudson) and the Warden and Council are behind the physical activity plan 100%. But it doesn't stop there. I also want to acknowledge all of the community leaders, champions and volunteers at the local level. You are all doing an amazing job providing those opportunities and creating those conditions for people of all ages to be healthy and active.

There is a wonderful spirit of cooperation here in Victoria County. Everyone here today - the students and staff at these schools, your parents, community leaders, and our partners are an example of people coming together to get things done for the betterment of the community. I look forward to continuing to work with the Municipality and all of you".  - All the best. Thank You. - Larry Maxwell, NS Department of Health & Wellness, Active Living Branch (Naturally Active Partnership)
