LDA-IA ScholarshipsThe Learning Disabilities Association of Iowa will award three scholarships to high school seniors planning to obtain post-secondary education (college or vocational). Each award will be for the amount of $1,000. Deadline: March 31, 2010 Disabled War Veterans ScholarshipsThe AFCEA Educational Foundation is pleased to offer the Disabled War Veterans Scholarships. These $2,500 scholarships, co-sponsored by Microsoft employees and the AFCEA Educational Foundation, are offered twice annually to active-duty service personnel, honorably discharged U.S. military veterans, reservists, and National Guard personnel who are disabled because of wounds received during service in Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom Operations. Minnie Pearl Scholarship Applicant must: Renewable scholarship for full-time college students with a severe to profound bilateral hearing loss. Initially, recipients must be mainstreamed high school seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA. Renewals based upon maintenance of 3.0 GPA, with a $500 bonus per year for a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5. The scholarship is available for up to four years of undergraduate study at schools in the United States; be a U.S. Citizen. Meyer Boulevard Kansas City, MO 64132 Travelers Protective Association Scholarship Trust for Hearing Impaired Provides financial aid to children and adults who suffer deafness or hearing impairment and who need assistance in obtaining mechanical devices, medical or specialized treatment or specialized education as well as speech classes, note takers, interpreters, etc. and in other areas of need that are directly related to hearing impairment. http://www.tpahq.org Graeme Clark ScholarshipThe Graeme Clark Scholarship is an award open to Nucleus® cochlear implant recipients around the world. Awarded by Cochlear, this Scholarship has been set up to help individuals further themselves by undertaking university studies. The Scholarship consists of financial assistance toward a minimum three-year undergraduate degree at an accredited university and is paid in annual installments on the completion of each year of study. It is available to those currently completing their final year of high school, to mature aged students who have been accepted into a university course and to current university students. Chair Scholars Foundation Provides scholarships for college or vocational training to low-income students with severe physical disabilities - allowing them the opportunity to pursue their dreams. Any young person with a physical disability and a dream can apply for a scholarship. Based in Tampa, Florida with chapters in Sarasota and New York City, ChairScholars has two scholarship programs; the National Scholarship Program and the Florida Scholarship Program.
The student must be physically challenged and may be "chair-confined". The physical challenge must be significant. No minor disability will be considered. Must have verifiable unmet financial need. Must have at least a B average. Must be a high school senior or college freshman. We do not fund graduate studies. (Our charter does not permit anyone over 21 years of age from applying.) The applicant must show some form of significant community service or social contribution in the past. APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED WITHOUT REGARD TO GENDER, RACE, CREED, OR RELIGION. Fifteen to twenty new students are taken yearly and are given $1,000-5,000 per year for each college year to a maximum of $20,000 total. The ELA scholarship is a supplement to financial assistance for tuition costs for female graduate students with physical disabilities. Applicant must: are available only to women graduate students with physical disabilities who are enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States. These scholarships are awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis.
