According to the 1860 census, when he is living with his parents, he is 13 years old. In 1870 he should have been 23 and in 1880 he should have been 33, not 43. We know this is the correct person as he is living next door to his parents in 1880. In 1890 he would have been 43 and in 1900 he would have been 53. What is the reason for this age discrepancy?
1900 Savannah, Georgia Census: Charles A. Cook (63 Ga), Catherine Cook (55 Fl), Joseph H. Cook (25), Melanie Cook (23), Catherine M. Cook (18), Caroline Cook (16), Mercedes A. Cook (14), Charles A. Cook (12)

Family tradition relates that John William Oliver was born in March 1853 and was a railroad engineer for the Southern Railroad and that he married Inez Stowell. He took the first train from Macon to Tallahassee, Florida (where Inez Stowell was living) but his regular route was Macon to Savannah. He later settled in Bibb County (Macon) Georgia. The Stowell Genealogy written in the 1880's by William Henry Harrison Stowell has Inez Stowell married to John William Oliver who was born in 1853 in Traders Hill, Georgia (I cannot find any Oliver listing in Traders Hill at this time period).

On the same census are Fountain, Laurence, Cook, Gould, Strobhar and Brantley families. However, the only line I can connect to John William Oliver through pedigree148 is Strobhar. See Strobhar/Beville and Brantley in (2C4) Leadonnis Oliver, sister of John William Oliver, married Jesse Beville.
