EXTRACTS FROM THE MINUTES OF THE 925th MONTHLY MEETING OF ALLAN WILSON SHELLHOLE HELD ON 4 SEPTEMBER 2016 AT THE SHELLHOLE AT 11h00

PRESENT

OPENING: The meeting was opened in the traditional manner by the Old Bill. He welcomed those present and thanked them for attending.

Old Bill Johann du Plessis reminded all that the 26 August 1966 was the official declaration of the bush war. 2280 members of the SA Defence Force died. The bush war is a landmark in the South African History.



SUNSET CALLS: Nil

ATTENDANCE: Members on Parade – 31, Friends of the Moth – 5, Apologies 6.

Visitors: Old Bill welcomed fellow Moth Paul Heyns from Freedom Shellhole in Vryheid who is residing in PMB while undergoing chemo.

Tony Birkholtz is to be initiated today.

Anton Le Roux – Prospective member. He has joined social club.

John Bias – is a prospective member.

Sick Parade – Neville Woodhouse is not at all well. Old Bill and Sergeant Major will visit him this week. If anyone else would like to go with them, kindly contact the Old Bill.

Moth Mickey Low underwent a shoulder operation.

Moth Ernie Barlow Jones – is in hospital. He is stable in general ward.

BIRTHDAY Congratulations for September: Allan Bryant (18), Piet Kitching (7), Les Munger (30), Martin Scheepers (12), Marie Labuschagne (29)

SERGEANT MAJOR ORDERS: Pay Bill Adrian Visser encouraged everyone who did not salute the vacant chair to pay a fine. It was discussed whether the salute to the vacant chair should become part of the standing order.



MINUTES of MEETING: Minutes of the previous meeting (7 August 2016) had been emailed to all members with an email address and posted on the notice board and were proposed by Moth Hylton Miskin and seconded by Moth Teus Bezuidenhout as a true reflection of the meeting.

CORRESPONDENCE

Correspondences from GHQ regarding a vacancy open at Warrior’s Gate for a couple. This position would include accommodation. Correspondence on the notice board for those parties interested.

District snooker tournament won by Hamba Kahle: Players Moth Des De Villiers and Moth Andy Smart

National Bowles tournament has been cancelled due to lack of interest. The 2017 Moth National Bowles tournament will be hosted by Rumbelow Shellhole.

MMA to be raided on the 14 September 2016

All parties involved in the Beric Johnson walk were thanked for their involvement. The day was a huge success. There were more than 60 participants.

Thought must be given to dates for the Children’s Christmas tree, Carols by Candlelight and the Widow’s and Veterans Lunch, Old Year Party.

PROJECT SHANGANI AND THE BUILDING NEXT DOOR

Excavations are well under way.

Meeting held with Rod Joynson (Project Manager).

Temporary water and electricity connect done. Meter reading will be done by both parties involved i.e. social club and builder.



AWARDS
Moth Clive Holland was awarded the Bill Lund Trophy for his outstanding service to the Moths.

GENERAL
A new Charter has been received with the correct spelling of Allan Wilson Old Bill du Plessis will arrange for the Charter to be signed off by Province.

Pay Bill Adrian Visser mentioned that old bill Johann Du Plessis was awarded an E badge.

Theo Dowsett Mothwa are having a braai/picnic on the 17 September at Queen Elizabeth park at 10:30. All welcome.

The Swindle was won by Moth Charlie Dickenson and the Mystery Parcel was won by Moth Paul Milton.


Friend of the Moth Janet McCoy was thanked for the snacks.
The next Allan Wilson monthly meeting will be held on the 2nd October 2016 at 11h00.

There being no further matters to discuss, the meeting was closed by Deputy Old Bill Shane Hellberg.
