Cadillac CTS is 2014 Automobile Magazine All-Star
Praised for dynamic excellence and modern, leading-edge technology.
DETROIT – The 2014 Cadillac CTS today was named to the prestigious Automobile Magazine 2014 All-Stars list. Automobile Magazine editors used a combination of factors to determine the list of 10 All-Stars, including results from performance testing, feature evaluation and overall value.
All vehicles on sale for the 2014 model year are considered for the award
"During our All-Stars evaluation drives, the Cadillac CTS emerged as a clear favorite," said Editor-in-Chief Jean Jennings. "Previous generations of the CTS had come close to equaling the performance, styling, and outright desirability of the most highly regarded foreign luxury sports sedans, but not quite.
“This all-new CTS, on the other hand, actually surpasses many of its competitors from Europe and Japan and, in so doing, is a testament to the complete transformation of Cadillac,” she said. “We are happy to recognize the brand's success and to celebrate this highly compelling luxury car."
Automobile’s editors said: “The CTS is a big car, but thanks to its stretched platform based on the smaller Cadillac ATS, it feels light and lithe. The moment you climb into the supportive front seat, you know you’re in a car designed for driving.”
A Cadillac has been named as an Automobile Magazine All-Star seven times. Previous winners include the 1993 Seville STS, the 1997 Catera, the 2004 CTS-V, the 2004 and 2005 SRX and the 2011 CTS-V Sport Wagon. The Cadillac Seville was Automobile Magazine’s 1992 Automobile of the Year.
“The CTS continues to be Cadillac’s centerpiece, helping to continue the elevation and evolution of the brand,” said David Leone, CTS executive chief engineer. “CTS has directly challenged the luxury midsize competition with uncompromised performance, luxury and technology and come out on top, as shown by this accolade.”
Automobile Magazine associate editor David Zenlea’s story chronicling the staff’s weeklong road trip through eight states is now live at automobilemag.com. A version will be published in the June 2014 print edition of Automobile Magazine, available on iPad April 22 and on newsstands May 2.
The award from Automobile Magazine joins a growing list of accolades for CTS, which was named Motor Trend Car of the Year, one of Car and Driver’s 10 Best, and Road & Track’s 2013 Luxury Car.
