The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, a Project of the Mobile Jaycees, is the largest fishing tournament in the world. Founded in 1929, the fishing rodeo now attracts over 3,000 anglers and 75,000 spectators. It is located on Dauphin Island, Ala. (N30 15'31, 90 W88 06'47.78)."

MMofA presents one of Southern Living’s 2015 ‘10 Southern Bands to Listen to Today’, all the way from Nashville, Ruby the Rabbitfoot. Humid grooves, glittering guitars, barnacle-sharp piano melodies, and Ruby’s deft turn of phrase make an intoxicating elixir. LIVE focuses on all original sounds from regional and local talent.

The Art of Living Foundation hosts an evening of yoga, meditation, and sustenance. AOLF will discuss what affects our quality of life, share some beginners yoga, breathing and meditation practices, and the evening will conclude with a wholesome vegetarian dinner, along with a Q&A session.

The event annually places among the “Top 20 Events in the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society for the month of July. In addition to children’s activities, entertainment, food, games, music, Battle of the Bands and fireworks, one of the defining activities of the festival is the annual Spirit of America Awards Ceremony in which special honorees receive awards commending their outstanding service and sacrifice for their county and their fellow man.

The W.C. Handy Music Festival is a 10-day celebration inspired by the “Father of the Blues” and the musical heritage of northwest Alabama. Over 200 events occur during the festival ranging from concerts to art exhibits and plays to athletic events. Music can be enjoyed in the local parks, stores, restaurants, churches and on the banks of the Tennessee River. Expect to hear everything from blues, jazz, gospel and soul to that distinctive Muscle Shoals sound.

Sounds of Summer will be echoing through the streets of Page, AZ. Navajo Dancing in City Park- Mondays (7pm), Movies in the Park- Tuesdays & Thursdays (8pm), Music in City Park- Wed. (7pm),and Navajo Dancing in Memorial Plaza on Saturdays (7pm).

The Sedona Hummingbird Festival celebrates Sedona’s peak hummingbird population in August with entertaining and thought provoking presentations lead by internationally recognized experts, tours of hummingbird friendly gardens and hotspots, a hummer/nature shopping mall, along with banding demonstrations and birding trips; sponsored by the International Hummingbird Society.

We are excited to welcome headliner Railroad Earth to Highberry. They are considered by many to be one of the top Blue Grass bands on the festival scene today. The backdrop of the Mulberry should provide the perfect bluegrass experience for 2 beautiful Highberry evenings.

Faires feature up to 60 juried artisans and crafters presenting their original works in a wide variety of styles and mediums including sculpture, painting, textiles, jewelry, glass, ceramics, precious metals, and more. Artists are on hand to describe their work processes. Some take special orders for custom and individualized gifts.

Three stages present falconry, comedic stunt shows, dancing, storytelling, parrot show, magic, Shakespeare and eight music groups. A full contact joust held twice daily. Parades and living history demonstrations. Unique shopping, delicious food, ale, wine and honey mead. Costume contest, pony rides and games for kids. Over 500 costumed participants.

Bring the whole family and enjoy 1st Thursday together in SBMA’s Family Resource Center located across from the Museum Café on the Lower Level. Museum teaching artists will assist families in creating special exhibition-based art projects. Afterwards, enjoy galleries until 8pm.

Joyce Tsai, guest curator of the exhibition The Paintings of Moholy-Nagy: The Shape of Things to Come, discusses the work of László Moholy-Nagy, Bauhaus professor, theorist, and visionary multi-media artist. Her talk examines the challenges he faced as an artist in exile, working in an age of both technological progress and of catastrophe. Examining the work he produced in his final years in the U.S.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to participate in this hands-on workshop with SBMA Teaching Artists on the Museum’s front steps. Each month explore a different medium, including clay, metal, ink, wood, photography, and paper, and gain inspiration from works of art in the Museum’s permanent collection or special exhibitions.

Expert anglers teach this fun workshop, in which kids will learn some of the basics of fishing. The class experiences 6 learning stations including such topics as knot tying, kinds of fish in the lake, salt water fishing, casting, bow fishing, fly fishing, and much more.
