Surviving are her husband, Thomas L. Love, son, Terry (Kathy) Love, Fairfax Station, VA; a daughter, Mrs. James (Cynthia) Copley, Chillicothe, OH; a special family friend, Michelle Anderson, London, OH; three grandchildren, Gary (Amy) Love, Brian Love and Christopher Copley; and her five great-grandchildren, Caitlin Love, Jessica Love, Mark J. Love, Cashlin Copley and Makenna B. Copley.
Preceding her in death were her parents, two sons, David & Gary Love; a brother, Melvin Brandt; and a sister, Helen Shur.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, 14 Jul. 2006, in St. Mark Lutheran Church, Defiance, with Rev. Tom Frey officiating. Burial will be in St. Marks Lutheran Cem, Defiance County. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. today at Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Ref: Aunt Anna Elizabeth “Lizzy” Karr – Father (Andrew Karr) and Uncle Tom went with the 100 day men to the Civil War. That was before Uncle Tom was married. Mother and her two children (Mary and Jim) went to her Father’s after she got things taken care of at home, like shearing sheep, selling wool and things. Grandfather helped her as much as he could. His horse knew the the way and always got him there and back safe. Clem was born at Grandfather’s before Father came home from the war.
Sam Crawford told me one time, most all in their community were neighbors or close friends in Ireland. After coming over, some would write back to a friend or relative to come. That is why they were located near each other. I have forgotten who it was, someone with a family of small children, thought they were going to Louisville, KY, but someone at Pier knew who they were going to and told them they had located in Canal Louisville, OH. So they found their friends near Louisville looking for them.
The (the Loves) seemed to be a happy, carefree, go-lucky family. Mother told many funny, interesting stories of her girlhood days. She attended the McClure schools. On the road there, they had to cosss a stream of water, “Bucklew Run” on a foot log when the stream was high.
A boy in the neighborhood always wanted to help “Susie” across that log, and she didn’t want Ike to help her. How she would plan to avoid him. One day she rean all the way to get across before he got there, but faithful Isaac was there when she arrived, waiting.
She and her girl chums like to stay all night in each other’s houses. One night she and a girl thought they would try their futures with the new moon. They said – New moon, true moon, will you tell unto me, who my true love is going to be – and so on. They went to bed and Mother dreamed about a young man she did not know. A few days later, Robert Karr and his son, Andy, went down to John Love’s on horseback to buy sheep. When Mother saw Andy get off his horse, she knew he was the one, she saw in her dreams – her “True Love”. They were married on 26 Apr. 1852 at her home.
They went into housekeeping on one of Grandfather Karr’s farms on Bucklew Run in Bethlehem Twp. Seven children were born to this union; Mary Jane, James Love, Clemenza Ellen, Eva, Andrew Walter, Anna Elizabeth and Lucy Osborn. All (except Clem) who was born at Grandfather Love’s before Father came back from the Civil War) were born in the old house of 4 rooms.
In 1878, Father built a new house in the same yard, where they lived until April 1904 when they moved to 621 Elm St., Coshocton and on 2 Nov. 1914 to 634 Locust St. where they lived until the passed.
Ref: I think that you have a pictures of Father and Mother sitting on the ground where the old house stood that they were married in on Bucklew Run. It was on this road Jim and Walter (who was six years old) was hauling sand for the new house when the horses ran off. The boys fell out of the wagon, the empty wagon ran over Walter breaking his collarbone. Jim was not hurt.
I only remember two things about Grandfather and Grandmother. “T’ was on Sunday, seeing them drive up the road just after Father had given Walter, Lucy and I a whipping with a switch off the Lilac bush, for quarreling over a swing.” Again, Grandfather with his cane, sitting in his chair on their long porch, teach me to sing”

He was for many years the County Clerk of Poweshiek Co. and a very well known and stable citizen of the community for 50 years. Will died 17 Apr. 1933.

Ref: Andrew came to America during the early 1800's and settled in Pennsylvania and later moved to Plainfield, OH, and Fannie came to America in 1826.
Ref: (Sprague) Samuel, about four years of age and Elizabeth, his sister, about two years of age when their Mother died, were raised in the home of Andrew McKee's sister, Eleanor (McKee) Lockhard. Not only was Elizabeth raised by the Lockhards, but they spent their final years in the home of Maro and Elizabeth (McKee) Sprague. James was raised by John Osborn & Eleanor (Love) Love, sister of Fannie. Eleanor Lockhard died 12 Feb. 1863, and Andrew Lockhard died 8 Dec. 1868, both are buried in the M.E. Cemetery, Keene, OH.
Ref: Maro Johnson – The story is told that when Fannie’s father, James, and her brother, John “Yankee” Love went to Ireland to sell their cattle before leaving for America they met a Mrs. McKee who loaned them a Bible on which to take an oath, presumable to support proof of ownership of the cattle, and also gave them messages to her son, Andrew, already across. Andrew was located by Yankee John and about 1836 married Fannie. She died about 1844, leaving a young baby, who was then taken by her sister, Eleanor, but died in 1853, aged about nine years, and is buried in the Presbyterian cemetery at Keene Village; he was called Sonny McKee.
