Though the research is limited within the jurisdiction of Uttarakhand, it has been tried that a fair representation of all the sections of the community and people from all walks of life are included. The respondents included labourers, workers, employees, industrialists and businessmen from rural industries in Uttarakhand, and the other rural residents of the state. The selected respondents are not only the native of the selected state, but include people from all over the country- who are here in connection to their occupation. Moreover the staff and officials of NABARD especially of NABARD Regional Office, Dehradun have also been selected to have a deep knowledge about the NFS schemes implementing in the state.
Sample Procedure-
The present research randomly picked up the respondents. The structured questionnaires were circulated to the respondents. Whenever possible spot visit also made to assess the information provided by them. The visits were also made to assess the conditions creating several difficulties for the rural industries in the state.
Method of survey-
The questionnaire method was basically used to collect information. In the process of distributing these questionnaires the researcher personally contacted the rural residents of the state. Thereafter he explained the purpose of the study and the manner in which the questionnaires were to be filled up, to teach the villagers (hereafter to be called respondent). The contact numbers and the addresses of the respondents were also taken. The researcher then collected the questionnaires after a week of their distribution. But there were some cases where because of ambiguity on the part of the respondent, the questionnaires remained incomplete. Thus, clarity has to be made before the questionnaires were fully filled and collected by the researcher. Indeed, phone calls were also made every alternate day to remind the respondent who appeared to be relaxed.
Survey Experience-
Individuals with expertise, knowledge and ideas about research subject were also questioned. Such people include executives and staff of NABARD and other relevant people. This process does not scientifically conduct statistical surveys; rather it reflects available information from the people who have the particular knowledge of the subject under the investigation. The experience survey was to find new ideas and thus the respondents were given freedom to give response.
Based on the information collected at preliminary stages and in order to obtain proper definition of the problem and to establish priorities, descriptive research is designed with an aim to determine frequency of the events to occur or how two events may vary together. This study is typically guided by an initial hypothesis.

Data analysis-
The primary data collected through questionnaire and the secondary data collected from various sources was in crude form and was lying scattered. Therefore various steps were taken for editing, coding, and tabulating the data obtained through questionnaire. Editing refers to inspecting, correcting and modifying the collected data. Coding refers to assigning code numbers to various rural industrial units and various NFS schemes and placing them in categories to prepare data for tabulation. Tabulation has been done to bring together similar data and arranging them in accurate and meaningful manner. The activity of inspecting, the researcher himself carries out for correcting and modifying the collected data is carried out by way of the information needed to accomplish the objective of the study.
The edited and coded data is tabulated for analysis. The data collected is categorized and tabulated broadly in the following way:
