The following appeared in the Roanoke Times;
Mrs. B.M. Gardner Dies This Morning
Dublin, Va., Mar. 27, 1912-Special.-Mrs. Belle M. GARDNER died at an early hour this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Claude GLENDY, in this place. Her health has been failing for some time and at times her condition became critical, but she always rallied until the last attack. She was 67 years of age
Mrs. GARDNER was the daughter of Jacob COOK, and a native of Wytheville. She wedded Col. David GARDNER of the Fourth Virginia Regiment, who died about five years ago. Surviving her are two children. Mrs. GLENDY and Mr. Lawrence GARDNER. of Portsmouth, Ohio, claim agent for the Norfolk and Western. It was a comfort to the mother to have her two children with her during her last illness, and she received from them and friends every tender care which could be bestowed by administering hands.
There are also, two sisters, Mrs. Charlotte MYERS, of Cristiansburg, and Mrs. John BRADY, of Wytheville.
Mrs. Gardner conducted a millinery , store for many years both at this place and at Newbern. With her husband she was active in church work and for years they took an active lead in the work at the Newborn church, entertaining the visiting ministers and others who were drawn there through church work. With her death this removes within one week two of the old active members of this congregation, the other being Col. JORDAN, whose death was chronicled last week. Never was there a, more devout Christian woman than Mrs. GARDNER. And she leaves the inheritance of a, noble Christian example for those who knew her.
The funeral services will conducted Thursday morning after the arrival of No. 11 which will bring some of her friends. The services will be held from the Methodist church by Rev. N. R. CARTRIGHT and Rev. J.S. NEEL, of Galax, Interment will be in the cemetery at Newbern.
