Harry Woolling Hight, Sr. age 91 of Radford, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Birdmont Manor in Wytheville. He was born on June 22, 1912, was a member of Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church, and was a retired employee of Pulaski Furniture and N&W Railway. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Harry W. Hight, Jr. of Meadowview and David Hines Hight of Charleston, W. Va.; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, James Hight, Salem; sister, Margaret Ritter, Pulaski; six step grandchildren, fourteen step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church in Radford, with Rev. John Grimm and Rev. Fred Austin officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornspring Cemetery in Pulaski Co. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour at Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.

Greensboro, N.C. hospital, He was a retired General Chemical employee.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Blanche ABELL HILL; one daughter, Mrs.


Dorothy TUNGATE, Louisville, Ky; one son, Ewell HILL, Falls Church; three
sisters, Mrs. Lilly MAYHUE, Mrs. Catherine PUGH and Mrs. Nellie HENSLEY
all of Bedford; two brothers, Charlie HILL, Radford and John HILL,
Willis; two grandchildren.

Funeral will be held Saturday at 11a.m. from Strickler's Funeral Home.


Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

The body will remain at Strickler's Funeral Home.

HILL, Garland Fuqua, 78, of Radford, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at the Pulaski Health and Rehab Center. He was a WWII U. S. Navy veteran and was a self-employed general contractor. Survivors include his wife, Mabel B. Hill of Radford; two sons and daughter-in-law, Marshall and Beth Hill and Carl Edward Hill, all of Radford; a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy Jane and B. J. Browning of Blue Ridge; a sister, Jewel Bayse of Foster Falls; nephew, Charles Lewis Hill of Radford; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Steve Waller officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the Mullins Funeral Home.

who died Monday morning in Pulaski General Hospital, will
be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the First United Methodist
church with the Pastor, Dr. Robert H Duncan officiating,
and assisted by the Rev. David Ensminger. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will include Fred WILLIAMS, James W. STEGER, A. Woody DAVIS. C. V. JACKSON, Robert LYNCH and Alan GROSECLOSE
Born in Wythe County, the daughteer of the late Charles Franklin THOMAS and Mary Bell WILLIAMS THOMAS. She was preceeded in death by her husband Fitzhugh Lee HILTZHEIMER, SR.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs William C. HACKLER, Blacksburg; two sons, Fitzhugh Lee HILTZEIMER Jr., Danville; Fraanklin B. HILTZHEIMER, Harrisonburg, one brother, William F. Thomas Sr., Pulaski; six grandsons, one greatgrandson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Admiinistrative Board and Board of Trustees of First United Methodist Church.
The body will remain at Seagle & Sons Funeral Home Until one hour before services

PULASKI - Mrs. Edith Pyle HINTON, age 70, died early Wednesday morning at her home. Born in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel PYLE and Sarah LOCKWOOD PYLE. She is survived by her husband, Vernon Waller HINTON, Sr.; two daughters, Mrs. Giles M. LUGAR, Danville; Mrs. Samuel BARNARD, Bridgewater; one son, Vernon W. HINTON, Jr., Pulaski; one sister, Mrs. Louise EDWARDS, Rockford, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Christ Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Gary Gloster officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens , Dublin, Va. Friends may call Thursday at Stevens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service for Mrs. Frances K. HIRSCH, widow of Adolph HIRSCH, was held Monday at 2 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, conducted by the Rev. Trayham Topping.

Mrs. HIRSCH was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Smith KING, Pulaski, but she had lived in Norfolk for 40 years.

Pallbearers were the Rev. J.E. BELVIN, R.E. BREMDLE, A.F. DEWBERRY, Burton RIEDEL, William SHERWOOD, II and Edward M. OBER. Ramona Council No. 7 Degree of Pocahontas conducted graveside services.

Survivors include two brothers, Thomas C. KING and Frank R. KING; four sisters, Miss Mary C. KING, Miss Anna M. KING, and Mrs. Evelyn HYLTON all of Pulaski and Mrs. Georgie LIDDLE, Kingsport, Tenn.



Mrs. Hirsch was a member of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church; Sixty Plus Club and Ramona Council Degree of Pocahontas.

Helen Rebecca Holmes, 85, formerly of Pulaski, died Monday July 7, 2003 at her home in Richmond. Born April 29, 1918 in Pulaski, she was the daughter of the late Pansy Seldomridge Holmes and Henry Hart Holmes. She was also preceded in death by one brother who was killed in World War II. Ms. Holmes was a Deputy Clerk in Henrico Co., Va. for years. Ms. Holmes will be cremated and interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery with no funeral services. Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home handling arrangements.

Mrs. Ethel Edith Holston, wife of C.P. Holston died rather sudedenly this morning at the home on the Alum Spring road. She was the daughter of Sidney Mann and was born in Wythe County and was 25 years of age. She is survived by her husband and two children. The body will be sent to Wytheville Saturday on No. 11 for burial.

18, 2000, at his home. He was retired from the Lynchburg Foundry, Jerry Hurt
Construction, and Sowers Paving Co. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen P.
Hoover; three sons, Barry Ousley of Roanoke, William E. Hoover, Jr. of
Oxnard, Calif., and Maynard Hoover of Blacksburg; one sister, Pansy Whitlock
of Radford; four grandchildren, Doug Ousley, Grant Hoover, Christopher
Hoover, and Michelle Trainer; special friends, Danny and Marie Sowers.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the
Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Pastor Glennard Quesenberry
officiating. Interment will follow in West View Cemetery in Radford. In lieu
of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American
Cancer Society or New River Valley Hospice. The family will receive friends
from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at the Mullins Funeral Home

Frances Bush Hopcroft, 76, of 6841 Morgan Farm Road, Radford (Pulaski County), died Monday, July 7, 2003, in the New River Valley Medical Center, Radford. She was born in Roanoke, Va. on Jan. 6, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Arthur Noah Reed Bush and Cecil Lillian Farris Bush. She was also preceded in death by her husband William T. Hopcroft. She was a retired employee of Hubble Lighting, Christiansburg, Va. Surviving are: her daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Mike Farmer, Wytheville, Barbara and Allen Stoots, Dublin, Trudy and Thomas Eastridge, Radford; brother, Melvin Bush, Roanoke; grandchildren and spouses, Shannon Farmer, Carol and Clarence Tawney, Kristy Stoots, Sherry and Christopher Seagle, Brian Stoots, William and Tammy Eastridge, Samantha and Timothy Vires, David and Misty Eastridge; great-grandchildren, C. Nevelyn Doris (Spangler) Hopkins, 87, of Harris Road, Nashua, died Monday, July 7, 2003, at the Reflections Alzheimer’s Program, Greenbriar Terrace Healthcare, where she had resided since 1997. Mrs. Hopkins was born February 9, 1916, in Pulaski, daughter of the late Ethel Holmes (Meredith) Daniel and the late Charles Walter Spangler. She was predeceased on July 6, 1996, by her husband, John Raleigh Hopkins, whom she married, in Virginia, on Dec. 21, 1941. In her early adult years, Mrs. Hopkins worked as a court stenographer and then as an administrative secretary for 20th Century Fox Studio’s. Later she developed a career as a private caterer in New Jersey and eventually in Arizona. She was a former chef at Scottsdale Country Club, in Scottsdale, Ariz., and at Desert Hills Country Club, in Carefree, Ariz. During her retirement years, she was the beloved daycare mom for her grandson and for children of close friends. She enjoyed traveling, camping, photography, gardening and delighting others with her elegant gourmet recipes. She will be fondly remembered for her determination, strong work ethic, love for children, humor and compassion for others. After graduating from Pulaski High School, Mrs. Hopkins nurtured her career and hobbies by completing coursework in catering and culinary arts at New York Institute of Dietetics and Phoenix College and by completing coursework at the New York Institute of Photography. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathleen Hopkins, of Amherst, N. H.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Scott and Kristie Hopkins, of Phoenix, Ariz; two granddaughters, Heather Hopkins and Alison Hopkins, both of Amherst, N. H.; and her many friends at the Reflections Alzheimer’s Program, and Arizona friends who continued their loving support throughout her illness. A private memorial service is being arranged. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make a memorial donation to the Day Away Program - an Alzheimer’s Respite Day Program - at St. John Neumann Church, 708 Milford Road, Merrimack, N. H. 03054, to be used to help develop additional Day Away programs.

He was a retired employee of Northside Chevron, and was a charter member and former chief of the Twin Community Fire Department. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Jeannie A. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003 at the Parrott United Methodist Church with Rev. Maria Grimm officiating. Interment will follow in Sifford Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Malissa Ruth GRAHAM HORTON a daughter, Mrs F.M. BAKER Draper; a Son, William Cassell HORTON, Draper.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Memorial Christian Church, Pulaski with burial at the church cemetery.
