*BURUNDI :  Capital: BUJUMBURA  - PHASE III
PHASE III: is in effect in Bururi-ville, Cibitoke ville and the provinces of Cankuzo, Gitega, Karuzi, Kayanza, Kirundo, Makamba, Muramvya, Muyinga, Mwaro, Ngozi, Rutana and Ruyigi.
PHASE IV: is in effect in Bubanza, Bujumbura rural, Bururi (except Bururi-ville) and Cibitoke (except Cibitoke-ville).
Staff movements and missions to/within the country are subject to appropriate clearance from the Designated Official except movements within the municipality where the office is located. A curfew from 2300 to 0600 is enforced for all UN staff members. All in-country missions requests are coordinated through the UN security Cell. Travel/Missions in Phase III areas are subject to military escorts except in Muyinga, Ngozi, Kirundo and North of NR6. The use of armoured cars or body armour is mandatory in Phase IV areas.
Security clearance from the Designated Official is mandatory at least one week prior to arrival in Burundi. The ceiling for international staff members is 200. New arrivals must receive a security briefing. CAMEROON :  Capital: YAOUNDÉ  - PHASE I

Agencies organizing official travel of their staff to the area of Kousseri in the northern areas of Cameroon should request security clearance from the Designated Official in Chad due to the very close proximity of these areas to N'Djamena in Chad, as opposed to their distance to Yaounde. Travel to this area is considered dangerous and should be avoided unless special arrangements for armed escort are made: namely road from Maroua to Kousseri and Chad border along which there is risk of attack by armed bandits. Please note that Mr. Nathan Danquah, the FSCO, will be serving in Indonesia assisting with tsunami-related security until 17 March 2005.

Road movements restricted to day-light time and with appropriate minimum security equipment required for the phase. Movements to capital cities of the Departments are authorized only by air, except those missions that need to be conducted by road due to operational reasons and on exceptional basis. The Designated Official advises that as the security situation in certain Departments and regions of the country remain potentially volatile, specific and more restrictive security measures apply for road movements. Therefore, field Missions in Colombia should be coordinated in advance through the Security Office. UN missions are requested to contact the FSCO office for security briefing upon arrival.
