EGYPT :  Capital: CAIRO  - PHASE I
PHASE I: is in effect for the entire country.
Cairo is considered reasonably safe. Minor crime is not uncommon. Visitors are advised to take additional security precautions while traveling to the areas of Assiut, Minya, Sohag and Qena in Upper Egypt. Upon request, the government usually provides armed escort for UN missions transitting these areas. Visitors are advised to contact sponsoring UN Agency Security Focal Points to receive a security briefing upon arrival. All permanently assigned UN staff is required to receive an initial security briefing from the Office of the FSCO immediately upon arrival.

EQUATORIAL GUINEA :  Capital: MALABO  - PHASE I
PHASE I: is in effect in the entire country.
It is advisable to bring at least 6 passport size photos which are sometimes required by airport authorities. Visas upon arrival will be provided only to holders of UNLP. Those traveling with national passports must possess a valid initial entry visa. The Government has lifted in-country travel restrictions but road checkpoints are being maintained in many areas, thus the need for proper identification. Please note that the Regional FSCO is based in Libreville, Gabon.
Missions should contact UNDP/Malabo at least 2 weeks prior to their arrival in order to obtain clearance for entry. Security clearance should be requested throught the office of the Designated Official.

ETHIOPIA :  Capital: ADDIS ABABA  - PHASE I
PHASE I: is in effect for the entire country, except those areas mentioned under Phase Three.
PHASE III: is in effect in the regions in Ethiopia that have the following boundary revisions: North – North of Adigrat-Axum-Inda Sellasie to Sudan border along Angereb River. Northeast – East of Dessie-Mekele Road bounded by borders and Dessie Djibouti Road and border with Eritrea/TSZ and Djibouti. (Road to Djibouti and Town of Assaita remain in PHASE I). East and South – South west of Awash-Djibouti Road, East of Harar, Dire Dawa, Ginir, Negele and South of Dila-Yabellow Road and South of Kelem-Yabello Road. West-Gambela region.
Road travel should take place only during daytime; long trips outside main cities should be with at least two four wheel drive vehicles (if possible). Advice about security conditions should be sought from the respective Agency Head.

GUATEMALA :  Capital: GUATEMALA CITY  - PHASE I
PHASE I: is in effect for the entire country.
The Designated Official has established the following security measures in place countrywide: (1) travel outside of Guatemala City should only take place during daylight hours between 0600-1800 hours; (2) staff are allowed to move on the route Guatemala City – Antigua – Guatemala (47 kms) without restrictions.
The request for security clearance should be submitted at least 3 working days prior to arrival date of visitor and directed to the Field Security Office per Fax: (+502) 385-3858 or by email: security.clearance.gt@undp.org. Requestors will receive in return (via fax or email) a 3 page document containing security clearance confirmation, updated and recent security guidelines for post, summarized overall security situation description, tips on how to manage yourself in the city, extremely important airport/hotel/taxi visitor information and UN emergency contact numbers. Visitors staying over 3 months are requested to contact the FSCO immediately upon arrival to register at UNDP and receive mandatory country introductory briefing.
