Methodology, tools and architectures for electronic consistent knowledge management across projects and between enterprises in the construction domain
Project Summary
This project aims at specifying and developing an open model-based infrastructure and a set of tools that promote consistent knowledge management within collaborative construction environments. The work will rely on a deep understanding of knowledge management activities of European construction companies. The analysis of the semantics within and across documents will lead onto the development of ontologies and adaptive mechanisms that can organise documents according to their contents and interdependencies. The web-based infrastructure will include services allowing to create, capture, index, retrieve and disseminate knowledge. It will also favour the integration of proprietary tools. The e-COGNOS approach will be tested and evaluated through a series of field trials. This will be followed by the delivery of business recommendations regarding the deployment of e-COGNOS in the construction sector.

Postal IT Directions Strategic Study
Project Summary
The intention of the study is to research how the new technologies may transform lives in the broadest sense. Postal Operators will face dramatic changes in their core business. The working place of postal workers and the quality of their workplace and tasks will change. But also for the citizens that are in contact with the posts, there will be many changes such as new services and possibilities.
Postal operators play a crucial role in the economic cycle of today in both businesses and households. Postal Operators are on a daily basis in contact with an enormous number of European citizens. The interaction between these two parties, through new digital services, helps to bring new technologies closer to all European businesses and citizens and will accelerate its introduction and general acceptation.
The aim of the study is to look at the role postal operators can play in the aforementioned process and to propose concrete solutions and business strategies.

ACCOUNT-MASTER.COM
|
ACCOUNT MASTER.COM
Project Summary
Account-Master.com will be conducted as a TRIAL, by promoting early exploitation and adoption of novel solutions in the area of novel ""intelligent"" knowledge management technologies, applications and practises aimed at leveraging numerous and varied sources of often incomplete and/or ill-structured individual and corporate knowledge. Account-Master.com will bridge this gap between internal and external information and knowledge and will enable the co-operative work between SMEs and their financial advisers/accountants.
The technical objectives can be summarised as following: 1. Validating the existing application and technical functionality with a large group of users (at least 6 accounting / taxation advisers and at least 6 SME clients) in a real life setting 2. Integrate the three main building blocks of the application into one single software application 3. Improve and add additional functionality to the current system 4. Define the hardware/software requirements for the various user groups The commercial objectives can be summarised as following: 5. Validate the new business concept and develop new solutions for the European trustees/financial advisors and their clients 6. Validate the requirements and necessary changes for a multi-lingual application for various target countries 7. Validate the organisational, legal and commercial implications and changes required for both, trustees as well as application service providers (ASP). 8. A Business Case and strong Interest Group for further dissemination and exploitation purposes.

Dependability Development Support Initiative
Project Summary
The goal of DDSI is to support the development of dependability policies across Europe. The overall aim of this project is to establish networks of interest, and to provide baseline data upon which a wide spectrum of policy-supporting activities can be undertaken both by European institutions and by public and private sector stakeholders across the EU and in partner nations. By convening workshops, bringing together key experts and stakeholders in critical infrastructure dependability, DDSI facilitates the emergence of a new culture of trans-national collaboration in this field, which is of global interest, and global concern. In order to make rapid progress in the area, the outcomes of the workshops as well as the information gathered in order to prepare for the workshops will be actively disseminated towards a wider, but still targeted community of interest, including policy makers business decision makers, researchers and other actors already actively contributing to this field today. The outcomes of this 18 month project will be: a network of experts and stakeholders; a clear "bottom line" in terms of information on the current Status* (Status* reports), policy road maps on 4 elements, the outcomes of the 4 workshops, and a web site making all this information accessible to a wider audience and for use of future actors in this field.
