METEORE 2000
|
Micro Electronic Transactions for Edition Over inteRnEt
Project Summary
The METEORE 2000 PROJECT will specify, design, prototype novel, open micro-payment system architecture for e/m-contents services, that will be tried-out on an operational mobility portal. The prototype will integrate basic state of the art building blocks: a core open micro-payment technology for e/m-contents commerce, mobile Web state of the art technology (WAP, GPRS, UMTS), data transformation techniques for multiple terminal access representation based on abstract models using XML.
The innovations are:
1) the combination of these elements to deploy a novel open architecture
2) the introduction of an inter-mediation protocol between core micro-payment systems for global scalability
3) the business model that breaks the current “all free content” business model. The demonstration mobility portal, providing location dependent services to the end-users, will be tested on a sample population in Italy.

Protecting Accumulated Intellectual Data for Accounting In Real-time
Project Summary
The PAIDFAIR project is a Trial, which adopts not already established leading edge technology for protecting and usage measuring of Intellectual Property (IP) content and software for e-commerce models in different fields.
The PAIDFAIR partners from four European countries therefore supply new applications. The suppliers will benefit from a faster exploitation and the users have the chance for an early competitive advantage.
The ultimate strategic goal is setting a world wide standard for payment for IP content or software usage.
The trial is proposed to give trust and confidence for software and IP content vendors and users.This is solved by a protection and accounting system in this fields:
ESD and pay-per-use, distribution of music content, e-payment and authentication with Smart Card, IP distribution through broadcast/multicast and satellite communication, biometrical authentication and downloads for MHP set-top-box.

Media-Information Sans Frontières
Project Summary
The aim of MEDIA-ISF is to establish a new virtual business network organisation opening new dimensions for small and medium size enterprises and individuals in Europe. The offered three level structure of information service delivery helps to overcome the language borders and to establish quick and efficient information sharing and working relations among participants of the network. Covering regions in the member states and in the candidate countries from the beginning, the new structure facilitates the enhancement of the pre-enlargement co-operation at the level of small and medium size enterprises among the present and future members of the Union. The business case comprises a multi-media based and interactive information service focusing on the EU enlargement process, the regional policies and the SME sensitive market and legislation developments.

European Network of Excellence in AI Planning
Project Summary
The network's overall objectives are to maintain a co-ordinated framework for research, development, and technology transfer in the field of Artificial Intelligence planning and scheduling. It will undertake a variety of activities to support both the development of new directions in R&D and the exploitation of the technology – in particular with regard to the emerging e-Work and e-Commerce sectors – and it will promote the transfer of results to the benefit of innovative technological progress and competitiveness for European industry and enterprises. The goals of PLANET are:
to increase the awareness of the technology and to promote pan-European and international collaboration;
to promote the orientation of research more closely towards application requirements and to open up new application areas;
to provide a well-known and internationally recognised expert forum;
to support high-quality training and teaching.
European research in the field is covering a wide spectrum of research, development, and application areas and there exists a large number of excellent groups with different and complementary expertise. The proposed network, currently having about 50 members in 13 countries, aims to effectively pool these skills.

Simulation and IT-Solutions: Applications in the Baltic Port Areas of the Newly Associated States
Project Summary
The main objective of the project BALTPORTS-IT is the dissemination of research knowledge gained during the execution of the EC projects AMCAI, DAMAC-HP, SPHERE and regional projects in the area of IT-solutions and simulation for harbour managing and control. In this project a Baltic sub-regional Competence Centre will be established in Riga (Latvia). It will be formed to provide a communication platform for connecting scientists offering innovative IT solutions with engineers of companies working on maritime applications. The Competence Centre will support Port authorities, agencies, forwarders, trucking companies, stevedoring, insurance companies, railway and warehousing companies working with a distributed system of Free Port areas. Recommendations for the application of innovative solutions leading to new markets opportunities are to develop in technical Workshops. New ways for the training of specialists in maritime information systems design and port logistics by using Web-based technologies will become possible.

Projects from the 5th Call
The Re-naissance Economy; Strategy and Coordination For Europe
Project Summary
The clarity of 20th century markets was based on a system of fixed boundaries, with one-to-one trading relationships, linear value-chains and balance accounting concepts. A number of transformations are at work in the economy today and the impact has far-reaching implications for companies, financial markets and investors, accountants, public institutions and regulators. The search for new modes of competitiveness has opened the way for visionary entrepreneurs to exploit intangibles in previously unforeseen ways. Intangibles - R&D, propriety know-how, intellectual property, workforce skills, world-class supply networks and brands - are now the key drivers of wealth production, while physical and financial assets are increasingly regarded as commodities. The present statistical, accounting and IPR conventions have failed to keep pace with economic reality. A new generation of conceptual and analytical tools is needed to enable company boards, shareholders and investors to judge management performance and differentiate good, bad and delinquent corporate stewardship.
