A letter, small env dated Tonepah, Nev, June 8, 1926 from Mrs Bess Markle Richardson (wife of Warren Richardson) in answer to my letter of Jany 22, 1923 fr Omaha, Neb to her mother, Mrs Minnie Markle at 2003 Vine St, Berkeley, Calif says she is working out a family genealogy & says she has some interesting facts regarding their branch which she will send if I wish & I have written for them. She says she has four generations of Jacobs in her paternal line as follows:

Jacob Markle II born about 1730
Jacob Markle III born about 1757
Jacob Markle IV born about 1800
Robert Bruce Markle I born 1842 says "this was my father"
She says their Jacob III fought in the Revolutionary War.
I have written her that I think her Jacob I is son of Jacob, born Sept 2, 1679 (bro of my gggf, J. Christian) who on Mch 3, 1702 married Maria Rhode & emigrated to Moselem Springs, Berks Co, Pa See Anjou's Markle Family History Pages 33 & 34.

A letter, small envelope, dated 735 Church St, Extension Turtle Creek, Pa June 16, 1926 from Mrs Sarah A. Maguire, nee Johnson, see page 311, whose son, by her second husband, Edward Maguire acted as our guide May 1, to the old Carothers home & who told me her first husband was a Wm Thompson. She gives me the following record:
"My first husband, Wm L. Thompson was born on the farm near Murrysville, West Co, Pa Oct, 5, 1851 & died at the age of 25 yrs being a son of James Thompson & his wife Jane Donelly. James was born in Armagh, Ireland in 1809, came to America with his parents in 1812. His father was John Thompson whose wife was Elizabeth McMullen
1. My oldest daughter is Grace Sylvane married to Charles Yarbrough now living in Glendale, Calif, was born in Webster City, Iowa Feby 22, 1876.
2. the youngest was born in Turtle Creek, Pa June 21, 1877 now living in Turtle Creek Pa married to A. Park Dibler.
Alex Thompson's daughter, Lulu, unmarried, living with her mother Annie Keyster Thompson, her father now dead, was born at Larkins Grove, Iowa about 48 yrs ago. Don't know the date of her birth".

A letter small env dated June 15, 1926 307 West 9ndth St Columbia Tenn from Estelle Finley gives names of 11 Finleys from Memphis, Tenn directory, nine of which I am copying on slip direct, the other two being Austin Finley & wife with whom I am now corresponding. She further says she has had a visitor from Birmingham, Ala viz the wife of Dr Foster Gaines Finley, son of William Finley, son of Foster Gaines Finley, son of Col O.G. Finley who was with Jackson at New Orleans, La. They moved from Lebanon, Tenn to Tarraut City, Ala a few miles out from Birmingham. She says O.G. Finley was a son of Samuel & Mary (Gaines) Finley of Kentucky. Mrs Finley promised me more data & when I get it will forward to you.

Alexander Renick was born at the Renick farm just below Chillicothe, O on Apr 8, 1847 & died at his residence in Chillicothe, O Mch 1, 1923. He was son of Alexander Renick & his wife Jane Osborn. Was buried in Grandview Cemetery Chillicothe, O. The children of Alexander & Elizabeth Waddell Renick both born at the Renick farm above mentioned were:

I saw cousin J.C. Clow today at the noon hour in the Wm Penn Hotel & he told me that his sister, Mrs Mildred Clow McKeener had died Mch 19, 1925 at Pasadena, Calif & was buried there.
A letter small env dated June 8, 1926 & mailed 14th at Bethel Maine from Christine C. McCoy who gives her address as 473 Washington Ave Brooklyn NY. I cannot quite figure out notwithstanding the following references, book 14 p 379, book 15 p 551 & book 16 p 228 where I state she is a daughter of Robt W. McCoy. I think she must be a daughter in law & sister of "Jack" Chapman mentioned on said page for she says: "I was born Mch 20, 1884 at Bethel, Maine, my father's name William Chalmers Chapman, my mother's maiden name Martha Eliza Baldwin. Date of my marriage Aug 9, 1911. My son Samuel Finley McCoy was born July 13, 1913 at Woodfords, Portland, Maine". She is glad a Finley History is being written & wants a book. Signed Christine C. A letter dated June 17, 1926 Fulton Ky from Ed Thomas atty in answer to one I wrote 8th inst to P.M. asking abt Morton Kilgore who was there in 1891 says he used to room with him & his name is O.P.M. Kilgore & he is cashier of a bank at Goodbed, Ind, so I am writing to him there. Am also writing to addresses he gave viz:
Thomas Kilgore, Martin, Weakley Co, Tenn
Henry Kilgore, Harris, Obion Co, Tenn
These counties are in N.W. corner of Tenn & adjoin Fulton Co Ky which is in S.W. corner of Ky. He thinks these Kilgores spring from East Tenn & N.C. folks.

A letter, small env dated Route 5 Prescott, Ark Mch 11, 1926 fr Rev B.F. Dill says he often heard his parents talk of Berwick & Manch Chunk, Pa & his father talked of shoeing the stage coach horses & had two blue marks on one wrist which he got at Manch Chunk. I am transferring Benj F. Beill who is writing this letter from book 15 page 587 to the next page in order to put him & his family in a table & am writing him for names etc.

A letter, large env dated June 18, 1926 no 800 Main St, Houston, Texas from Hon Guy M. Bryan answering my letters about the Jack family says his sister, Laura Harrison Bryan now Mrs Edward Wheeler Parker, lives at 136 West Upsal St, Mt Airy, Germantown, Philadelphia, Pa & he has sent my letters on to her. signed Guy M. Bryan.
A letter, large env dated on May 27, 1926 Birmingham, Ala from Jesse Kilgore Brockman Atty at Law enclosed three foolscap pages of obituaries of his father & uncle & his grandfather & grandmother Col Thos P. Brockman & wife Mary Kilgore. See pages 344 & 348 & 9. & also two like pages of records copied from the family bible of Col Thos P. Brockman giving a wealth of dates of marriages, births & death which enabled me to fill many blanks in the tables on pages noted above. However, several deaths that do not enter into the tables, I am entering here for possible future reference.

Thos L. Hudson died Aug 9, 1867 age 4 yrs & 10 mos. This eldest son of S.P. Hudson & K.A. Hudson of Jacksonville, Ala.
The above are most probably from the bible of Col Thos P. Brockman's father. Just as the record contained an evident copy from the bible of his wife's father, James Kilgore & record of births of all of his children.
In his letter proper, three pages, he gives several people to write to viz:
Miss Harriet Moore Spartanburg, S.C. care of Paul V. Moore who collaborated with others in getting up genealogies of several branches of families collateral with Brockmans. I am writing her. He says his only brother, Thos P. Brockman died about 6 or 7 yrs ago & his widow at Spartanburg S.C. could give date of his death. He was born Dec 17, 1861 (fr memory). I was born Dec 3, 1863. My brother has 2 sons & one daughter. His widow can give record. Am writing her.
James Brockman moved to Ala along in the fifties (he died in 1844) & left an only child Tellulah [sic], who married John H. Bankhead & died about three or four years ago. She left two sons & two daughters, one of whom has since died. Says if I can get in touch with Mrs Marie Owens c/o Dept of Archives & History, Montgomery, Ala, she can give valuable information. Writing.

His mother, Kittie Bryson 82 yrs old, remarried, but he does not say to whom, has children to her second husband & lives at 366 Inman St, Atlanta, Georgia.
He says there is but one survivor of the Brockman family, viz: Mrs Hettie Earle who at last accounts was still living at Arkadelphia, Ark. who is quite old born in 1840 but whose mind is quite clear. I had gotten her address from someone else & wrote her today.
He says his Aunt Harriet M. Brockman married David Anderson of Spartanburg S.C. & has been dead many years. J.H. Brockman was the father of Tellulah Brockman who married Senator Bankhead of Ala & whose son John H. Bankhead Jr is now a candidate for senator from this state.
Aunt Keziah died a great many years ago & I do not know of any of her descendants.
Aunt Lucy Earl has been dead for many years & left some sons in S.C.
Aunt Fannie who married James F. Stokes died many years ago leaving two sons who died without issue. Their names are Benjamin & Henry Stokes.
Aunt Mary Harris died leaving one son Edgar Harris, who was a practicing physician at Rutherford, N.C. I do not

know whether Edgar is still living or not. I understand he left some children. Writing.
Aunt Allethea married a man named Young. There is a son living in Spartanburg, S.C. whose name is Wm Young.
Aunt Lucy also married an Earle. She has a descendant, a prominent lawyer at Walhalla, S.C.

Bankhead M.C. fr 10th Dist Ala returns my letter to his mother Tellulah Brockman Bankhead who J.K.B. says died 4 or 5 yrs ago & directs me to send it to his sister, Mrs Marie Bankhead Owen, Director of the Dept of Archives & History at Montgomery, Ala which I am doing. signed W.B. Jack says his wife Mary Lettie Mossman's (see book 2 pages 49 & 63) grandmother Mary Mossman nee Thompson was born in 1812 or 1815 in Maryland & afterwards lived in Western Penna. Her mother's name (ie the great grandmother of Mrs Jack) was Patterson. Mary Thomson [sic] Mossman had brothers, Jesse, Hugh and Acquilla. Mrs Jack will look up some more definite information. A letter small env dated Apr 7, 1926 at 1561 Shelby St Indianapolis Ind from Thomas F. Gregg see book 15 p 392 says his mother wrote the P.M. at McKeesport, Pat & learned that her 1st cousin Susan Hunter was dead, but that her sister, Sara Haney, who had lived with her until her death (& who Mrs Gregg thought was dead, see bk 15 p 390) was now living at Indiana, Pa. So she wrote to Mrs Haney & her son in law. John L. Getty Atty at Law Farmers Bank Bldg, answered saying Mrs Haney was 87 yrs old & very well but could not walk very much & was a poor letter writer so he answered for her. Mrs Haney is a daughter of Samuel Finley the oldest Uncle of Mrs Gregg & his second wife a Miss Mickey.

Fort See Page 234 gives the following about the Gaddis record of her mother Sarah Ann Gaddis daughter of Robert White Gaddis says: "The Gaddis originally came from northern part of Ireland (Antrim). Her branch came to New York State (Kortright, Delaware). Her father, Robert White Gaddis, son of Adam Gaddis came to Morgan Co, Ills with his parents. All his father's family didn't come to Ills.

The McCoys were from Pa or Va also came to Morgan Co, Ills but first living at Cedarville, O. I have been trying to trace my ancestor Alexander McCoy, father of mother's grandfather, David McCoy & find four Alexander McCoys with Revolutionary War records.
A card she got referred to Penna Archives 5th Series Vol VI Pages 188, 189 190 for a list of names of officers & privates within the bounds of Capt Wm Swansey's Co it being the 7th in rank of the 2d Battalion of Cumb Co militia commanded by Col Thomas Gibson page 189 in the 8th Class private Roger Carothers.
