3529. Time Life. TIME LIFE CLASSICS OF THE OLD WEST -- all leather edition. Alexandria: Time Life, 1980. Facsimile reprint. Book. Facsimile reprints of the original editions, bound in full genuine leather. This beautiful set was released beginning in 1980, concluding in 1984. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Silk ribbons. Illustrations in each volume calling for them. A COMPLETE SET, 30 titles in 31 volumes. These facsimile editions were later reprinted in simulated leather hardbound, but this is the genuine leather set first issued by Time Life. We wish to mention that many volumes were stated as bound in leather, but some weren't stated as such, yet were (and some of the later printings were stated bound in leather, but weren't! Go figure.). Several of the volumes have the bookplate that came with each volume. Three of the bookplates are affixed to the front paste down, & one of those has an owner's signature. The rest that are present are not affixed. A few volumes have the printed sheet noting the historical nature of the original publication. It is hard to imagine a more important set of nicely reproduced books encompassing the length & breadth of Western Americana that Time Life decided to reprint. Most volumes in their original editions are obviously quite rare. Titles: Adams, Log of a Cowboy", Allen, "Adventures with Indians and Game", Bourke, "On the Border With Crook", Carrington, "Ab-Sa-Ra-Ka", Cody, "The Life of Buffalo Bill", Conard, "'Uncle Dick' Wootton", Cremony, "Life Among the Apaches", DeBarthe, "The Life and Adventures of Frank Grouard", Delano, "Life on the Plains and at the Diggings", Dellenbaugh, "The Romance of the Colorado River", Dimsdale, The Vigilantes of Montana", Duval, "The Adventures of Big-Foot Wallace", Garrard, "Wah-To-Yah and the Taos Trail", Garrett, "The Authentic Life of Billy the Kid", Hamilton, "My Sixty Years on the Plains", Hobbs, "Wild Life in the Far West", Inman, "The Old Santa Fe Trail", Irving, "A Tour on the Prairies", Manly, "Death Valley in '49", Marcy, "The Prairie Traveler", Marryat, "Mountains and Molehills", Parkman, "The California and Oregon Trail", Olmsted, "A Journey Through Texas", Roosevelt, "Ranch Life and the Hunting-Trail", Ruxton, "Life in the Far West", Siringo, "A Texas Cowboy", Stratton, "Captivity of the Oatman Girls", Summerhayes, "Vanished Arizona", Taylor, "Eldorado, Vol I & II", Twain, "Roughing It". This set is in near fine to fine condition, overall. This is one T-L set that deserves a solid value for the collector in the years to come. (#SHEL818) $950.00

State Capital Co., Guthrie, 1905, 1905. First Edition. Book. Royal 8vo gilt-stamped leather with seal of the Territory of Oklahoma in gilt on front cover. 116pp. (14pp Introduction, & then portraits). Alphabetical Index. Signature (twice) of James Hastings, an Oklahoma pioneer. Portraits of federal officials, territorial officials, county & city officials, & representatives of about all the professions as well as some miscellaneous folk. They're all men. Some famous portraits: David L. Payne, Temple Huston (sic), Horace Speed, & others. Condition: Back hinge broken in front of rear free e.p. Previous owner used library tape to hold the front hinge. The leather at top of spine is broken off 1"; water damage to top 1" - 2" of rear cover, with loss of about one square inch of the leather exposing the board underneath, otherwise that area unsightly. Thus a copy that could be left as is, or nicely rebound. A rare volume in any condition. Rader 3137. (#0711391) $500.00
3532. Tinker, Edward Larocque. THE SPLENDID SPECTACLE OF PORTUGUESE BULL FIGHTING (Triple signed). Austin: Encino Press, 1967. Limited Edition. Book. Ltd edition, one of 300 copies for "general distribution", but published in 600 copies. Dramatic pictorial cloth. 21pp. Illustrated by Helen Torrey. Presentation copy inscribed by the author to Darlyne Lowman & signed in 1967. Also signed by range historian Joe B. Frantz, who wrote the Intro. Also inscribed in the back next to printing page to the same person by "her friend", the printer/owner of the Encino Press, Bill Wittliff, & dated 1967. There is browning/foxing to covers, mainly near the edges. While obvious, it is not overwhelming & the copy is nevertheless vg. In glassine dj as were many Encino books. (#1506146) $68.02
3533. Tinkle, Lon, et. al. SIX MISSIONS OF TEXAS (Signed). Waco: Texian Press, 1965. Book. Gilt-stamped 4to cloth with gilt cross on front cover. 194pp. Color plate of a painting of each mission: The Alamo, Concepcion, Espada, La Bahia, San Jose, San Juan de Capistrano. Signatures 5 of the 6 main contributors on prelim leaf: Lon Tinkle, Joe B. Frantz, Dorman H. Winfrey, James Day, & Ben Procter, (not signed by Joe Schmitz). ALSO signed & dated by Governor of Texas John Connally on 9/29/1966. Price Daniel wrote the Preface. The glossy paper of the dj has foxing on the underside, resulting in light, but general spotting on the covers. Doesn't keep this copy from being an eminently collectible copy. Other than underside foxing, an otherwise fine dj. (#1011152) $202.60
3534. Tinkle, Lon. AN AMERICAN ORIGINAL: The Life of J. Frank Dobie. Little, Brown, Boston, 1978, 1978. First Edition. Book. 1st printing. 3535. Titanic, Polish Language). Worzallow, Braci?. ZATONIECIE PAROWCA "TITANIC" -- (THE SINKING OF THE TITANIC) (RARE!). Steven's Point: J. Worzallas' Sons, 1912. First Edition. Book. A Polish language book. Illustrated wraps with covers missing. 5 3/8" x 7 1/4". Pagination: (3) - 94. Illus. It is very difficult to do the bibliographical research on this volume because it is almost impossible to find any copies. We are not completely sure if we have represented the absolutely correct spelling of the author and publisher. We are not sure if the book was published in boards or wraps, but we are hazarding a guess it is the latter because of the gathering of the signatures vis a vis the missing pages 1, 2, & 95. Facing page of this copy says, "1635 OFIAR -- DLACZEGO?" (1635 Victims -- Why?). The back page (94) has a listing of ship disasters, 14 of them, between 1890 & 1905, giving dates, names of vessels, & loss of life. The cheap black & white illustrations in this book are of the ship, the lifeboats, the Carpathia, several passengers & crew members, a map of the North Atlantic, an iceberg, & the music of "Autumn". There is very occasional pencil writing in margins. There are some page edge chips, but only a few. Facing page has a 1 3/4" tear up to the lower staple. Paper is browned, but not brittle, throughout, and has plenty of flexibility. It does require careful handling. Rare. (#SHEL478) $141.75

3540. Tombstone, Arizona. PHOTOGRAPHS. N.p., N.d., 0. Photographic Image. Not a book. A great group of five 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" unframed black & white glossy photos from Tombstone, Arizona, circa 1950. Digital images sent upon request. These photos were in a larger group of photos taken by an Army Air Force photographer. They show a true professional eye. An elderly, weather beaten gentleman in two of the images is unidentified, but he certainly captures the mythological essence of Arizona and the desert about mid 20th Century or earlier. One photo of him is a great looking waist-up portrait, & the other has him sitting on the window sill of an old building. The other photos include a "Welcome to Tombstone" sign with details about Boot Hill. There are two photos from Boot Hill: the grave of Mrs. Ah Lum (China Mary), & the graves & headboard of Tom McLowrey, Frank McLowrey, & Billie Clanton ("Murdered on the streets of Tombstone"). Note the variant spellings of the McLaurys & Billy Clanton! There is a Dec. 16 date for the death of "China Mary" on her headboard, instead of Dec. 6. On the McLaury photo, in the background are a couple of people on the horizon, one of them looking at what is apparently the Scheffelin monument. The condition of these photos is almost fine, with a small bump on one corner of a couple of them & one or two small thumb edge creases. These are perhaps unique original photos & will show beautifully when appropriately matted & framed. n.d. (#0505139) $114.82
