James Finley born abt 1760 came from Belfast, Ireland to America abt 1816 & died in Ross Co, O May 29, 1836 aged 76 yrs. See Book 14 page 260 where his record is given & his eight children are tabled.

Isaac Finley, youngest child that lived born at sea on their way to America about the year 1816 as he died of typhoid fever Apr 16, 1863 in his 47th yr & is buried in Baptists graveyard Huntingdon Tp, Ross Co, O. See Book 14 P 259, married Mary D. Henness born probably 1819 as she died of typhoid fever June 2, 1863 in her 44th year & is buried by her husband in the Baptist graveyard Huntingdon Tp, Ross Co, O. Mrs Lenox sd she died of childbed fever. Their 12 children as given Sept 25, 1925 see book 14 p 222 7 by his granddaughter, Mrs Margaret E. Finley Lenox at Masseyville, O are tabled below.

His brother Moses writes that he was in Texas when he last heard from him & thinks he is still living. Married Lizzie Raines of Frankfort, a fine woman. He was a drinking man & went off & left her & his two children.

I worked last night on Finley table on the two pages preceding made up from data gathered in Chillicothe, O last week of Sept, 1925 & from letter from Ida M. Harvey, Box 317 Osborne, Kan small envelope, filed.



I now have letter, small envelope, filing from Ross Carrithers 1336 North Meridian St Brazil, Ind dated Feby 11, 1926 & am making new table commencing on page 242 extending table gotten in Joplin, Mo Nov 16, 1922 see book 8 p 520 extending the line of Ross's grandfather & giving the additional information he has sent of his great grandfather, Thomas Carithers 1783 1868.
Our Morning Herald of yesterday announced the death of Albert Wheeler at his wife's home 159 Morgantown St on Sunday afternoon Mch 28, 1926 at 1:30 o'c aged 72 yrs, survived by his wife Deborah (daughter of Elliott Hibbs & wife Mary Ann Campbell) & one daughter, Mrs Geo D. Johnson of Uniontown, Pa & one sister, Mrs Jane Wood. Says he was a member of Second Pres. Church. Funeral to be 2 PM today & burial in their family lot Oak Grove, Cemetery.

An article in a recent issue of the West Newton Times Sun announced the marriage at San Rafael, Calif of Thomas M. Markle (son of 2d cousin Capt Cassius C.) & Miss Vivian Kelly on Saturday Feby 20, 1926. Says she is prominent socially, daughter of a pioneer family being daughter of Mrs Elizabeth Kelly & the late William Kelly & a sister of county auditor Wm Kelly. Also that he is a son of Mrs Mary A. Markle of Montclair NJ & a native of West Newton, Pa. Says they well establish their home in Fresno, Calif where he is successfully engaged in business.
I find among the accumulated letters, one from Rev David Finley route 5 Centralia, Wash, dated Feby 15, 1926 which says his father, James Finley married his cousin Susan Finley. Says he left Virginia at age of 5 yrs & will be 78 on Feby 25, born then on Feby 25, 1848. He mentions "lome [sic home?] and Parkersburg some 50 miles". Am writing him for further information. Thomas Carrithers See Book 8 page 520 born say 1783 & died Sept 15, 1868 in Sullivan, Co, Indiana, went from Penna to Ky & from there with his younger brother Adam to Indiana. Married Sarah Hill born say 1791 as she died July 10, 1867 aged 76 in Clay Co, Indiana. The tradition in the family is that her father was stolen by the Indians when a small boy & kept by them until he was almost grown. She was born in Ky & he in Penna. His death occurred at his brother Adam's at Shelburn, Sullivan Co, Ind. Mrs Kennedy says they had ten children.

Mr Benj W. Kilgore of the American Cotton Growers Exchange, Raleigh, N.C. writing Mch 1, 1926 in answer to my letter of Jany 29 says that both his father & grandfather was Benjamin Kilgore. He says his grandfather went from the Greenville Spartanburg Section of A.C. to Mississippi & that his recollection is that the S.C. Kilgores came from Penna. He advises me to write to Mrs James Jackson, Tuscumbia, Ala who can straighten me out or refer me to someone who can.

He says too he had just returned from Arizona where he met a Mr Jack whose mother, he thinks was Anne Kilgore & he advises me to write him c/o Arizona Pima Cotton Growers, Phoenix, Arizona. I am writing Mr Kilgore again tonight & to Mrs Jackson & Mr Jack.

I have a letter dated Feby 18, 1926 in answer to one I had written, from Rev James Kilgore of the Department of Philosophy of Religion of the Southern Methodist University School of Theology, Dallas, Texas. He says his father was James Thomas Kilgore, son of William Kilgore. He says he was born in a small town in Maryland & reared in the Southwestern part of Ohio. He married Caroline Elizabeth Bookwalter of that section & went to Texas in 1848. He says he knows but little about the record but refers me to his younger sister, Mrs John Alford, no 1301 Topeka Blvd, Topeka, Kan who he says has the old family bible with the names of the ancestors back for a number of generations. I am writing her tonight. He says he is interested to know what I learn as he desires to know more about his ancestors.
