I have a letter dated Mch 22, 1926 small envelope filed in answer to mine of Jany 25th from Mary Cahal Osborn (Mrs W.A. Osborn) 340 Myrtle St Atlanta, Georgia. She is a niece of the wife of Judge Robert L. Caruthers of Lebanon, Tenn & his adopted daughter. She said she got his bible but it was burned up in the disastrous fire at Atlanta, Georgia. She further says that he did not get his father's bible. She says the article on Judge Robt L. Caruthers is copyrighted & that I would have to get permission from the Nashville Banner or Douglass Anderson who prepares these articles to include it in my history. I am writing for that permission. I am making a table commencing on next page embodying some information she gives, first copying from top of pages 278 & 279 book 13 as a base. Judge Robert L.C. started his law school in his office in 1847 with 7 young men & later made his brother, Abram, dean of the school. He also became judge & wrote "Caruthers History of a lawsuit" which became a standard law Book of Tenn. Two of his grandsons, Allen Caruthers & Caruthers Ewing can be reached c/o Tenn Soc, NY City. See Book 13 p 261 & 265, both lawyers.

She speaks of Judge Caruthers in most endearing terms & of his love, trust & fatherly care of her which is the sweetest recollection of her life. She spoke most kindly & affectionately too of Miss Mary H. Myers & her excellent mother.
