Elizabeth Knezevic - Counter Ambush Tactics, Takedown to Handcuffing
The course will be conducted in a stair-stepped learning pattern that will look at realistic attacks and situational factors that will effect officer decision making within current Use of Force case law.
Officer Knezevic employed in Illinois as a Sheriff's Correction's Officer for 18 years, and has instructed Law Enforcement for 15 years in control tactics, firearms, first aid/trauma care, and communications, in addition to serving as a Hostage Negotiator for the department. She is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and trains in Kali. Additionally, she has certified in multiple law enforcement ground fighting methods at an instructor level.

Stephen Lopez - Warning Shots: Training Tips for Implementation by Instructors
They are not for every agency nor every situation, but warning shots might fit a narrow role under narrow circumstances. This workshop will explore the concept of using warning shots in law enforcement, and then quickly move into what an instructor should consider and how to teach the firing of warning shots. It will include a review of the methods used by the NMSUPD to teach this subject matter, tips for rolling out the use of warning shots within an agency, and discussions on applicability to handguns, shotguns, rifles, and select-fire firearms.

Henry Lu - De-Escalation; Training the process, not for a result.
De-Escalation is a process...not a result. De-Escalation has become the new buzzword in LE and with the public. Is this a new concept? LE has always engaged in DE techniques but with the new focus on DE has your agency lost site that DE is a process, not a result. Some scenarios cannot be DE to a peaceful resolution and the UOF is not a failure of DE or DE techniques. Topics discussed will be how your agency views DE, de-escalation through escalation, "tactical" de-escalation, suspect/subject contact and rapport, pre-threat indicators, and documentation of DE in UOF reports.

This four hour block of pistol training will focus on performing tactical shooting utilizing single handed techniques.
