He was a member of Pulaski Lodge No. 1067 BPOE, member and past president of the Pulaski Rotary Club, a director, of the Virginia National Bank, Pulaski, and a member of the Thorn Spring Country Club. He was also a member of the Virginia Senior Golf Association, Pythagoras Lodge No. 239, AF & AM of Pulaski, and Pulaski Post No. 7 of the American Legion.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Donald W. GLENN and Mrs. W.H. WYSOR, Jr. both of Pulaski-one son Douglas S. DIVERS Jr. of-Manakin-Sabbt, two sisters, Mrs. Cephas SHELBURNE of Rocky Mount, and Mrs. Raymond DAVIS of Aberdeen, N.C.; nine grand- children, and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Monday at 2 p..m. in the Oakwood Cemetery conducted by the Pulaski Lodge No. 1067 BPOE and lodge members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of choice.
Visiting will be this afternoon at the Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, and the family will receive friends at the residence, 1004 Prospect Ave

DAVIS, Henry Alexander Jr., 65, of Pulaski, died Monday evening, April 17,
2000 in the Burrell Nursing Center, Roanoke. He was born in Pulaski County
on September 11, 1934 and was the son of the late Henry Alexander Davis, Sr.
and Effie Robertson Adams Davis. Surviving are sons, Terry Allen Davis of
Galax and James D. Davis of Pulaski; sisters, Louise Harris of Libertyville,
Ill., Iris Pennington of Barren Springs and Elizabeth Seagle of Dublin;
brothers, Joseph Davis of Richmond, Mark Davis of Hopemill, N.C., James Roy
Davis of Bassett and Kyle (Bobby) Davis of Roanoke; two grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel
with the Rev. Dale Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Draper's
Valley Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Wythe County. Visiting will be

Owing to an unfortunate error in the item reporting the death of Mrs. DAVIS, published in Monday’s issue, the item is reproduced. with correction made.

Mrs. Ishmael Pearl DAVIS, aged 32, died this morning at about 4:30 o’clock at Delton. While she had been in ill heath for several years from heart complications, her death came rather unexpectedly, she having been taken worse on Sunday. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, and burial was made in the Asthworh graveyard near Delton. The Rev. J. A. Taylor, of Christian church conducted the services.



The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. QUESENBERRY and was born and reared in Delton. She is survived by her husband C. T. DAVIS, of Detroit, Mich., one daughter, Genevieve, her parents, these sisters and brother: Mrs. R. O. JENNINGS and Mrs. G. L. SMITH, Norfolk; Mrs. C. L. CRAIG, Detroit; Mrs. J. N. VAUGHAN, Norre, Pa.; Mrs. L. L. WERNER, Hopewell; Mrs. Albert BIRKLER, Emory and Mann QUESENBERRY, all of Delton.

LEWISTOWN - Ruby Irene Davis, 82, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of Burgard Apartments, Lewistown, died at 5:37 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.
Born June 12, 1918 in Bland County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Albert T. and Laura (Millirons) Meadows. Her husband Norman H. Davis preceded her in death.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Ralph (Irene) Roope, Pulaski, Va., Mrs. David (Faye) Webb, 400 Yale St., Lewistown, Mrs. Frank (Eunice) Bartlett, Galay, Va., brothers and sisters; Miller C. Meadows and Juanita Melton, both of Dublin, Va., and Audrey Nuckolls, Pulaski, Va., nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Kyle Meadows.
She was a homemaker.
She was a life member of Goshen Methodist Church, Dublin, Va.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Goshen Cemetery, Bland County, Dublin, Va.
There will be no public viewing.
Memorial contributions can be made to Beverly Healthcare-William Penn 163 Summit Dr., Lewistown, PA 17044.

DAVIS, Jasper Hampton Sr., 80, of the Little Creek Section of Bland County, died Tuesday evening, February 29, 2000 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. Born February 26, 1920 in Little Creek, he was the son of the late Comie Davis and Edna Davis. Mr. Davis was a contract mail carrier for the Star Rt. in Dublin for 45 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Meadows Davis; one son and daughter-in-law, Jasper and Shirley Davis of Little Creek; one daughter, Louise Davis Parker of Little Creek; two brothers, Ranold Davis of Newbern and Earl Davis of Pontiac, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Victor "Violet" Combs of Pearisburg, Mrs. Margaret Davis Linkous of Rocky Mount; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Csanyi and the Rev. James Angle officiating. Interment will follow in the Goshen Cemetery in Bland County. Visiting will be anytime after 2 p.m. Thursday, and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

DAVIS, Thomas Havely, (Tommy), 64, of Christiansburg, died Monday, December 10, 2001, at the New River Valley Medical Center. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on March 18, 1937, to the late Walter H. and Sally Bell Shaver Davis. He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Melissa Davis, and a brother, Russell E. Davis. He retired from Va. Tech having been a supervisor at Turf Research and at Kentland Farms. He was a member of the Castle Rock Lodge #334 A.F. & A.M., and a member of the Virginia Bear Hunters Association. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sybil Jane Davis of Christiansburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Forrest D. and Cindy Davis of Blacksburg, James H. and Val Davis of Spotsylvania, Stephen P. Davis of Christiansburg; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Randy Coakley of Spotsylvania, Stephanie J. Davis of Christiansburg; five grandchildren, Zach Coakley, Grace Aldridge, Clay Davis, Casey Davis, and Sierra Davis; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Joe Austin of Blacksburg; a sister-in-law, Jeannie Davis of Christiansburg; an aunt and uncle, Mary Kate and Mason Lafon of Blacksburg; an uncle, Rev. Hobert Shaver of Pearisburg; and a special bearhunting friend, Richard Dudding. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 13, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the Christiansburg Wesleyan Church with Rev. David Hurd and Rev. Noah J. Underwood officiating. DAVIS, Margaret Pannell, 70, of Wytheville, Va., died Monday, January 15,
2001 in the Birdmont Health Care Center. She was born in Wythe County, the
daughter of the late Otis Clyde and Marie Simmerman Pannell. She was a
member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her
husband, George R. Davis; a brother, Reed Pannell; and a sister, Lula
Halsey. She is survived by a sister, Martha Albright of Fayetteville, Ark.;
two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Magalene Pannell of Etowah,
Tenn., Lorris and Judy Pannell of Winston-Salem, N.C.; sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Betty Pannell of Leesburg, Va., Thelma Price of Roanoke,
Va., James Halsey of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Hazel and Jim Henderson of Rocky
Mount, Va., Marie and Charles Davis of Collinsville, Va., Evelyn and Harry
Davis of Vinton, Va.; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and
grand-nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January
18, 2001 at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr.

DEAN, Minnie Yates Crowder, 92, of Radford, died Thursday, November 16,
2000, at her home. She was the widow of Dr. Howard Lee Dean, and was
preceded in death by a son, Dr. Howard Yates Dean. She was the founder and
director of the Radford Child Care Center for 36 years. She started the
first sandlot football team for McHarg School, the "Yellow Jackets." She
also started the Floyd Ward School of Dancing in Radford, and was a Cub
Scout and Girl Scout leader. She was the recipient of the Hugo Unruh Award
in 1987 and was the 1960 Business and Professional Womens Club, Woman of the
Year. Mrs. Dean was known by the children of Radford, who loved her as
"Yatsie." She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Minnie Lee Dean and Margaret
Dean Sutton, both of Radford; one son, Dr. Richard Henry Dean,
Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a brother, Mark Crowder, Jacksonville,
Florida; and a sister, Rose Ellen Moisseau, Texarkana, Texas; her
grandchildren, Ellen Lee Dean Wong, Brooklyn, N.Y., Margaret Lancaster
Moncure, Cary, N.Y., Anne Skipwith Hagerty, Newport News, Sarah Yates
Moncure Kirby, Radford, Samuel Epes Moncure, III, Berlin, Md., William
Cabler Dean, Winston-Salem, N.C., Howard Lee Alexander Dean, Nashville,

HILMA FRYE DEAN, 92, formerly of Austinville, Virginia died Sunday, September 10, 2000 in the Raleigh Court Health Center in Roanoke, Virginia. She was born September 28, 1907, in Pulaski, VA., the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Matilda Bunts Frye of Wytheville. Ms. Dean retired from the Wythe County School System after 32 years teaching, primarily at Austinville Elementary School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was an active member of Bethany Methodist Church in Austinville, serving as Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. She was also active with the local senior citizen club. Ms. Dean was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Dean and a son, Donald A. Dean. She is survived by: two sons - Kenneth Dean and Shirley Stevenson of Roanoke, VA; and James Carlton and Sharon Dean of Waukegan, IL. Four grandchildren - Jeffrey Dean, Christopher Dean, Gordon Dean, Kimberly Dean; two great-grandchildren - Courtney Dean and Kyle Dean; two sisters - Greta Etter of Rock Hill, SC and Lois Sullivan of Arizona.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Billingsley and the Rev. Jean Layell officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before service time. The family will receive friends at the Barnett Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Bethany United Methodist Church. Pulaski Community Hospital. He was born October 8, 1908 at Staffordsville,
the son of the late Charles Alfred and Lelia Mae Meadows Deck. He was a
member of the Christian Church, United Steel Workers and Internation Union
of Operating Engineers. He is survived by a son, Charles M. Deck, Narrows;
two brothers, Ernest W. Deck, Staffordsville; Paul G. Deck, Pearisburg; two
grandchildren, Mike and wife Treva Deck, Hoges Chapel; Cathy and husband,

DeHART, Meryl Greenall, 79, of Radford, died Thursday, June 14, 2001. She
was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and was retired from the Medical
Department of Hercules. Upon her retirement, she became a longtime volunteer
until her death at Radford Community Hospital and then at the New River
Valley Medical Center. She was a loving mother and wife. Survivors include
her husband of 54 years, Charles L. DeHart of Radford; son and
daughter-in-law, Charles L., Jr. and M. Elizabeth DeHart of Corpus Christi,
Texas; granddaughter, Julianna Terhune of Shawsville. Memorial services will
be held Tuesday, June 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in
Radford with the Rev. B. Kris Kramer officiating. Interment will follow in
Grace Garden. The family will receive friends following the service in the
Parrish Hall of Grace Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that contributions be made to the Memorial Fund for Grace Garden, C

Rebecca Gardner DeHaven, age 55, of Dublin, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at her residence. Mrs. DeHaven was a teacher for 30 years mostly in Pulaski County, She was a member of Dublin United Methodist Church and a member of the choir. She was also a volunteer for CASA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeddie Barnes and Emily Evalene Gardner and her husband, Harry Steve DeHaven. She is survived by: two daughters and son-in-law, Emily and Douglas Rosson, Barboursville, Va., Ellen DeHaven, Dublin; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Ruth Ann Gardner, Cleveland, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Mary Ella DeHaven, New Port News, Va.; two grandchildren, Andrew Rosson and Harrison Rosson; niece, Sara Gardner; nephew, Matthew Gardner. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dublin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Travis officiating. Burial will be in the DeHaven Family Cemetery.
