REESE, Elizabeth Bouldin, A memorial service will be held for Elizabeth B.
Reese at 10:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Sunrise
Burial Park in Fairlawn, Virginia. Mrs. Reese and her husband, Asa Whitney
Reese, were longtime residents of Radford, Virginia. He preceded her in
death in 1967. Survivors include her only daughter, Ann Reese Dye and her
husband, Albert of Roswell, New Mexico; and a sister, Frances Bouldin
Barnard of Clearwater, Florida. She had three granddaughters, Denise Wilemon
of Midland, Texas, Deborah Shattuck of Boise, Idaho, and Diana Cottle of Ann
Arbor, Michigan. She had two great-granddaughters, Sarah Whitney Wilemon and
Meredith Ann Wilemon of Midland, Texas. Mrs. Reese, who had made her home in
South Carolina for approximately twenty years, moved to Roswell, New Mexico,
in 1997. It was there that she died on January 30, 2001. It was her wish to
be laid to rest with her husband, brother, and parents in Sunrise. Mrs.
Reese's family wish to extend an invitation to those who are able to attend
the memorial service to meet with them following the service at the Best
Western in Radford for a luncheon honoring the life of a lovely lady.

REYNOLDS, Richard Michael, 41, of Radford, passed away Wednesday, August 9,
2000, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Christiansburg, Va.,
on September 10, 1958. Richard was a member of the Shiloh Lutheran Church,
and a past member of the Old Pro Band at New River Community College. He is
survived by his wife, Melonie Ann Reynolds; and a daughter, Sarah Lynn
Reynolds, both of Radford; his parents, Walter Johnson and Verna White
Reynolds, Longshop; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann Marie and Martin
Paulson, Pulaski; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David J. Reynolds and
Lorrie Saville, Christiansburg, Robert K. and Leanne Reynolds, Longshop; his
maternal grandmother, Vera K. White, Longshop; mother-in-law, Beatrice A.
Norris, Suffolk; father-in-law, Raymond R. Norris, Windsor;
grandmother-in-law, Annie B. Norris, Windsor; and six nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the
Shiloh Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robin Hendrickson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Harless Cemetery, Longshop. In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to the Trust Fund for Richard's daughter:
Sarah Lynn Reynolds Trust Fund, c / o National Bank of Blacksburg, P.O. Box
90002, Blacksburg, Va. 24062-90002. Friends may call anytime Friday after 12
Noon, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCoy

Millard F. Reynolds died last night at 10 o'clock at the hospital from pneumonia. He was brought to the institution Thursday of last week from Delton a very sick man owing to his extreme age his condition was realized to be serious. The deceased is survived by his widow and several children. He was a native of Floyd County an 70 years of age. The body, upon being prepared for burial, was removed to the home of his daughter Mrs B.H. Harriman on the Peppers Ferry Road, where it will remain until Sunday when it will be taken back to Delton for burial in the Allison Graveyard.

MRS. J. W. RHOADES

Mrs. J. W. RHOADES, widow of the late Rev. J. W. RHOADES, a member of the Holston Conference of the Methodist church, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. F. PRATER, in Marion on Monday. Death followed a lingering illness.

The deceased has been in declining health for several months and during the past few weeks her condition had been critical. Although her death was not unexpected, her demise came as a shock to her many friends.

She was born in Pulaski county March 10, 1850. She was before her marriage Miss Lucinda MARTIN. She was married to J. RHOADES also of Pulaski on December 7, 1870. To this union were born six children, two boys and four girls. One son and one daughter preceded her to ________

Surviving are one son and three daughters as follows: W. M. RHOADES, of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. E. M. PIPPIN, of Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. J. C. DISHMAN, Bristol, and Mrs. R. F. PRATER, Marion also two sisters, Mrs. A. J. CARTER, and Mrs. Mary ROTENBERRY, of Radford. She is survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will held Tuesday afternoon from the PRATER home and were conducted by Rev. Mr. Johnson, of the Marion Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. G. L. Shupe, of Telford, Tenn. Burial was in the family plot. RHOADES, Mrs. J. W.

Funeral services for Mrs. J. W. RHOADES widow of the late Rev. J. W. RHOADES and native of Pulaski county, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. F. PRATER, in Marion on Monday were conducted at the PRATER home at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon with the Rev. Johnson, pastor of the Methodist church of Marion in charge, assisted by the Rev. G. L. Shupe, of Telford, Tenn. Interment followed in the family cemetery near the home.

Music was furnished by the First Methodist church choir of Bristol. The church quartet, composed of W. H. Pershing, R. I. Butterworth, Mrs. W. E. Bryan, and Mrs. Fleishman sang "My Mother's Prayer," Mrs. Bryan also sang a solo entitles "Some Sweet Day."

Pall bearers were grandsons and nephews of the deceased. Estel HURST, Romer HURST, Gilmer DISHMAN, Carl PRATER, and Hiram PRATER.



Flower bearers were members of the Ladies' aid society of the First Methodist church of Bristol of which the deceased was a member.

RHODES, Odell James, 71, of Dublin, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2002 at his
home. He was born May 14, 1930 in Vandervoort, Arkansas to Hubert and Mary
Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Sanders. Mr.
Rhodes was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Mr. Rhodes was the Vice President of
Kenny's Drive Inns's and Bantam Markets, Inc. from 1958 to 1968. He was also
the President of R. & R. Market and Snack Bar, Inc. in Radford, Va.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Rapp of Dublin, Va.; two daughters, June
Harless of Dublin, and Connie Adams of Radford; two sons, Odell James
Rhodes, Jr. of Springdale, AR, Timothy Rhodes of Radford; a special stepson,
TSgt Steve Rapp, U.S. Air Force; two sisters, Estelle Ashcraft, Helen Jewel
of Arkansas; a special sister-in-law, Gale Wimer of Dublin, Va.; ten
grandchildren, Wendy, Michael, Chris, Chuck, April, Stephen, Molly, Blaine,
Dalton and Molly; six great-grandchildren, Sean, Austin, Canine, Alyssa,
Alexandra and Terry Dale. Pallbearers include Jeffery and Don Ashcraft, T.
Wayne and Larry Watkins, Gary and Kevin Jewel. Funeral services will be held
Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Central United Methodist church in
Radford, Va., with Pastor Jim Cochran officiating and the VFW Post #776
conducting military rites. After the service, the family will receive family
and friends at 6077 Hillcrest Place in Dublin, Va. Interment will be in
Witherspoon Cemetery, Vandervoort, AR, with a graveside service on Friday,
May 10,2002 at 10 a.m. with Ministers Gary Jewel and Kevin Jewel
officiating. After the graveside service, the family will be meeting at the
Vandervoort United methodist Church in Vandervoort, Ark. Visitation will be
Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home. Arrangements by Mullins
Funeral Home in Radford.

Clarence Hubert Richardson, 92, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away on February 9, 2000.
Born in Pulaski, Virginia on February 21, 1907, Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters and his daughter,
Patricia Hardin Knoll.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Josephine Richardson of Corpus Christi, Ron and Janey Richardson, son and daughter-in-law of Austin, Texas and three grandchildren, Renee Heaton of Frisco, Texas, Janelle Hardin of Houston, Texas and James Hardin, Jr. of Colorado Springs.
Mr. Richardson served in the United States Navy for twenty years and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Upon retirement he worked for Civil Service, U.S. Naval Base, Corpus Christi, Texas for 12 years.
The family extends their appreciation to Mr. & Mrs. Benny Velasquez, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Peters and Mrs. Bonnie Rhymes for their assistance while Mr. Richardson resided on Whisper Wind. Also a very special thanks to Mrs. Carolyn Stout with Supportive Solutions for her involvement and dedication.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2000 in the Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery.

RICHARDSON, MILDRED SIMMONS, 93, of Dublin, formerly of the Riner Community,
died peacefully at the New River Valley Medical Center on Sunday, December
15, 2002. Her husband of 63 years, Oakley John Richardson, her parents, two
brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Richardson was involved
in many church and community activities in the Riner area. She was a
lifelong member of the Auburn United Methodist Church. She was actively
involved in the Women's Society of Christian Service. Her interest in youth
was manifested through work with the Methodist Youth Fellowship where she
served as both chairman and counselor. She was also an active member of the
Home Demonstration Club for many years. In 1968, the Young Homemakers
Association recognized her as an ideal mother. Her many interests included a
love of needlework especially quilting and pillow making. An avid cook, her
family and friends were always generously fed with many of her specialties
including: fried apple pies, chicken potpie, cobblers and buckwheat cakes
and gravy. She was a veteran of the Riner Cannery where she preserved 100's
of jars of vegetables especially her signature vegetable soup and apple
butter. She passed those traditions on to her children and grandchildren.
Special thanks to Linda, her granddaughter, for three years of companionship
and care. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Dr. Agness and
the nurses and staff of the 1600 Medical Care Unit of Carilion NRV Medical
Center for their compassion, care and service. She is survived by five
children and their spouses; Oakley John and Glennis Richardson, Dublin,
Billy and Mary Jane Richardson, Riner, Larry and Margaret Richardson,
Connersville, Indiana, Judy and Glenn Clingenpeel, Boones Mill, and Janet
and Dick Shelburne, Christiansburg. She is survived by nine grandchildren
and their families, Sandra Brunner, Marsha and Butch Pack, Kathy and Doug
Bunn, Linda Wilson, Dublin, Lance and Tara Richardson, Plant City, Fla.,
Rhonda and John Rogers, Richmond Indiana, Pam Richardson, Riner, Patrick
Clingenpeel, Boones Mill, and Suzanne Shelburne, Christiansburg. She is also
survived by a sister-in-law Nancy L. Richardson and several nieces and
nephews. Mrs. Richardson was further blessed with sixteen
great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Hanna Brunner, her
great-great-granddaughter, shared a very special bond of love with Ma Mill.
Visitation will be help from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 17. Friends
may also visit the family at the home of Dick and Janet Shelburne, 2901
Childress Road. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, December
18 at the Horne Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Steve Aker and the Rev. Doug
Kanney officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery in
Christiansburg. Flowers will be appreciated but memorial donations can be
made to the Auburn United Methodist Church c / o Kathy Smith, 2125 Fairview
Church Road, Riner, Va. 24149 or grandson's Soul Divine Ministry, 65 Ruebush

Curtis Millard Ridpath, age 71 of Pulaski was called home to be with the Lord June 21, 2003 at Pulaski Community Hospital. Born Mar. 19, 1932 in Pulaski he was the son of the late Rev. Daniel and Bertie Ridpath of Pulaski. His daughter, Janet R.Gravely, also preceded him in death, one brother, James G. Ridpath Sr., and one niece and nephew. Mr. Ridpath served in the United States Army from Nov. 1954 to July 1962. He served overseas duty in Hawaii and Germany. He previously worked several years at Lynchburg Foundry as a lead man before retiring from Jim’s Steakhouse in Pulaski where he worked as a chef for several years. Surviving are: his wife of 51 years, Margaret Elva Bryant Ridpath, Pulaski; daughter and son-in-law, Linda R. and Ronnie Lowe, Pulaski; son and daughter-in-law, Frankie C. and Kathy Ridpath, Pulaski; son-in-law, Donnie Gravely, Pulaski; grandchildren, David and Kim Stowers, Betsy Stowers, Jason Sutphin, April Ridpath, Andy Ridpath (Pulaski); great grandchildren, Mariah Martin, Austin Reinhardt and Jacob Stowers; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Bill Nester, Pulaski, Pat and Tinker Stoots, Pulaski; brothers and sisters-in-law, Conrad and Wanda Ridpath, Pulaski, Landon and Susan Ridpath, Christiansburg, Mike and Linda Ridpath, Fla., Terry Ridpath, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Abundant Life Ministries, Pulaski with the Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Interment will follow at the Ridpath Family Cemetery where the V. F. W. Post #1184 will conduct full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631 Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling the arrangements.

RIDPATH, Clarsie O'dell, 89, of Snowville, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at
her home. Born July 9, 1911, in Pulaski, Va. She was the daughter of the
late Jake Abraham O'dell and Doshie Holliday O'dell. She was preceded in
death by her husband, James Blueford (Blue) Ridpath; two sons, Basil Hugh
Wilson and Ernest William Wilson; and a sister, Mrs. Kermit Bentley (Mannie
Lou) Wilson; and three brothers, Arlie O'dell, Collie O'dell, and Luther
O'dell. Surviving are daughters-in-law, Mrs. Annie Bell Wilson of Radford
and Mrs. Peggy Jane Mitchell of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Joyce
Wilson Rakes, Brad Wilson, Angie Wilson, and Brenda Sue Fulton; three
great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. George (Mazzie Jane) Akers of Shawsville;
and special friends, Tina Wilson and Roy E. Mitchell. Funeral services will
be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski, with the
Pastor Wallace W. Yopp officiating. Interment will follow at the Cecil's
Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery (Hiwassee). The family will receive
friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening at the Bower Funeral Chapel, 1631
Bobwhite Blvd., Pulaski. Bower Funeral Chapels is handling the arrangements.

George Vernon Riggins, age 84, of Wytheville, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in the Wythe County Community Hospital. He was born in Wythe County, Sept. 24, 1918, son of the late Robert and Jettie Mabe Riggins. He was retired from Coleman Furniture Factory and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Bear and two brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Six Riggins; two daughters, Joyce Brown, Dublin, Linda Cox, Pulaski; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren also survive. A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m. West End Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Ingo officiating there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville is in charge of arrangements.

RIGGS, Cora Mabel, 78, of Brandon Oaks Health Care Center, Roanoke, and
previously from Newbern Road in Pulaski, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in
Brandon Oaks Health Care Center. Born May 27, 1921, in Kenova, W. Va., she
was the daughter of the late Emery and Nancy Crabtree Riggs. She was the
bookkeeper and helped to operate, along with her father and brothers, the
Riggs Veneer Co. in Wurno for many years. While in Pulaski, she was a member
of the Draper Valley Baptist Church and when she moved to Roanoke, she was a
member of the Franklin Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by two
