Cyrus Family Cemetery in Wayne County, West Virginia. Arrangements by Thomas

HARRY T. RINGLER
Harry T. RINGLER, Baltimore, formerly of Pulaski, World War I veteran, died Monday in a Baltimore hospital following a major operation.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anne RINGLER; two daughters, Mrs. William K. DOUGHERLY and Mrs. Charles HALL, both of Falls Church; one son, Duff RINGLER, Baltimore and four grandchildren.



Funeral service will be held Thursday with burial in the National Cemetery at Arlington. Masonic service will be held tonight.

RITTER, Clifford Alton, age 76 of Salem, passed away Saturday, April 29,
2000. Mr. Ritter was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Hailey RITTER.
He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in Guam and was awarded the Bronze Star
for Heroic Service.
He was also a member of the Roanoke Moose Lodge #284 since 1977. In 1991 he
attained the highest degree in the Loyal Order of the Moose, the Pilgrim
Degree. He retired from GE with more than 30 years of service.
He is survived by one son, James Alton RITTER of Roanoke, one daughter,
Evelyn REYNOLDS of Elliston, one sister, Hazel MILLER of Portsmouth and one
sister-in-law, Margaret RITTER of Pulaski; 32 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted today at 1 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son
Funeral Home in Salem. Internment is in Sherwood Memorial Park.

James D. Roberts, 60, of 723 Hunters Run, Gahanna, Ohio died Saturday, June 7, 2003 at his residence. He was born in Pulaski on August 26, 1942. He was a devoted husband and father. Forthright and dedicated, he was a fiscal manager for the State of Ohio for 27 years. Always a gentleman he loved his family and friends, scuba diving, playing softball, bridge, dancing, The Duke, the OSU Buckeyes, flowers and a good martini. He served four years with the Army Security Agency assigned in Germany. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Moose Lodge #2463 and the American Legion Post #797. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Helen and William McFatridge and a brother, John L. Roberts. Thank you for your prayers and support, it meant more than you’ll ever know. A special thanks to his Army buddies, close friends in ODMH and Tom Howell of Arizona. Surviving are: his wife, Pamela J. Roberts; daughter, Denise R. Roberts, Fla.; brother, Roscoe R. Roberts, III. A funeral service was held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m from the Evans Funeral Home, 4171 E. Livingston Avenue where friends called 2 hours prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski with Dr. Randy Frye officiating. Pulaski VFW Post #1184 will conduct the military graveside rites. There will be a visitation Saturday morning from Stevens Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until just before the service hour. Donations in his name are encouraged to the Kidney Cancer Association, 1234 Sherman Avenue, Suite 203, Evanston, Ill. 60202-1375 or to the Grant/Riverside Hospice, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio, 43214. Virginia Merle Howard Roberts, 79, of Oak Hill died Nov. 2,
1998, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a long illness.
She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill.
Surviving son, Roger Roberts of Dublin, Va.; daughters, Carolyn Mitchell
of Jacksonville, N.C., Martha Roberts of Charleston; brother, Billy Ray
Howard of San Antonio; sister, Edna Mae Ellickson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa;
three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill. Burial
will be in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour
prior to service at the funeral home.

Mamie Nance Robertson, 87, of Stuart, and formerly of Radford, died Nov. 26, 2002, at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart.
She was born in Radford on July 9, 1915, and was the daughter of the late Beverly Nance and Lula Carr Nance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daniel Robertson.
Her survivors are two daughters, Ann McConnell of Stuart and Helen K. Robertson of Fairfax; one granddaughter; and one brother, Robert Nance of Martinsville.
A memorial service will be held during the Sunday morning worship service at Stuart Presbyterian Church.
Her body will be an anatomical gift to the Virginia Medical Center.
Memorials may be made to the Stuart Presbyterian Church Faith to Move Project, P.O. Box 944, Stuart, Va. 24171.
Arrangements are by Moody Funeral Home, Stuart.

ROBINSON, Minnie Elizabeth, 77, of Blacksburg, passed away Wednesday,
November 15, 2000. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ernestine
and Estol Brooks of Pearisburg; granddaughters, Carl Phillips and her
husband, Marvin of Blacksburg, Audrey Robinson of Radford and Adriane Leche
and her husband, Norman of Christiansburg; one sister, Vivian Harley of
Pittsburg, Penn. She is also survived by a host of great-grandchildren;
great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be
held 1 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2000 at First Baptist Church in Pearisburg,
with the Rev. Michael Bratton officiating. The family will receive friends
one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in Birchlawn
Cemetery in Pearisburg. Arrangements by Horn Funeral Service in
Christiansburg.

RODGERS, Louise B., 84, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2001 at Richfield
Retirement Center in Salem, Va. She was preceded in death by her six
brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband Stanley L. Rodgers,
Jr.; her son and daughter-in-law Beale and Janet Rodgers of Radford, Va; one
grandson, Shannon Rodgers of Christiansburg, Va.; three stepgrandchildren,
Michael B. Cox, Jr., Caroline Hickam, and John M. Cox; four
step-great-grandchildren, Madeline Hickam, Liam Hickam, Mikayla Cox, and
Meagan Cox; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Rose
Bussey of Salem, Va. She resided in Suffolk, Va. for many years before
moving to Richfield Retirement Center. She was a longtime member of the
Suffolk Christian Church. The family will receive friends at Harrell Funeral
Home in Suffolk, Va. between 7 and 8 p.m. Thursday, June 28. Funeral
services will be held Friday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at the Harrell Funeral
Home.

ROGERS, Mary Alice Viers, 67, of 2066 Twin Oaks, Pulaski, died Sunday morning, March 30, 2003, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born in Pulaski on September 16, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Robert L. Viers and Eula C. Viers. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James R. Viers and by a sister-in-law, Peggy M. Viers. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Pulaski. Surviving are her husband, Donald E. "Pete" Rogers of Pulaski; daughter and son-in-law, Jana and Joel Weiner of Longwood, Fla.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Opal and Don McCambridge of Hiwassee, Helen and Douglas Hylton of Draper, Edith and James Thomas of Dublin, Mildred and James Smith of Bedford; brothers and sister-in-law, Donald L. Viers of Draper, Walter and Betty Viers of Draper; sister-in-law, Patricia Viers of Dublin; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Gladys Rogers of Baltimore, Md., Bobby and Margaret Ellen Rogers of Dublin, Carolyn and Melvin Lyons of Dublin, Sandy and Charles Painter of Gainsville, Va.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the First Christian Church, Pulaski with Pastor Randy Winn officiating. Private burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Born May 21, 1921 in Inman, Va., he was the son of the late Sarah Smith Rogers and Rufus Rogers. He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Rogers; one sister, Edith Rogers; and a grandson, Jeffrey Altizer. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Nelson Rogers; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne "Saundra" Gray of Pulaski and Mrs. B. J. "Sharon" Altizer of Snowville; two brothers, Stanford Rogers of Pulaski and Chester Rogers of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Service with Rev. Jim Linkous officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens. ROLLINS, Abraham, (Bebe), 86, of New River, died Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at Carilion New River Medical Center. He was the retired custodian at Sunrise Burial Park. Surviving are his wife, Mildred W. Rollins, New River; a son, Robert L. Rollins, New River; a stepson, Timothy Williams, New River; two daughters, Yvonne Rollins, Christiansburg and Teresa Taylor, Radford. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Dublin United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, is handling arrangements.

26, 2000. Leaving behind her beloved husband of 51 years, Marvin Ray Roop;
sons and daughters-in-law, Roy E. Dowdy, Jimmie R. and Teresa Roop, all of
Christiansburg, Larry W. and Sharon Roop of Radford, Jerry L. and Cathy Roop
of Mt. Airy, N.C. and Jackie L. Roop of Christiansburg. Also surviving are
two sisters, Martha and her husband, A. J. Martin, Nancy Wood and friend,
Wayne Carol, all of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren; all her special
friends at Comfort Inn of Radford; her special little dog, Misty; and one
very special friend, Linda Henderson of New Castle. Friends may call anytime
after noon on Sunday at Horne Funeral Home where the family will receive
friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday
in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Woodrow Holder, Jr. officiating.
Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg.

ROOP, Paul Carlton, 83, of 1371 Beth Scott Drive, Pulaski, died Wednesday
evening, June 14, 2000 in Montgomery Regional Hospital. Born October 9,
1916, in Snowville, Va., he was the son of the late Guy C. Roop and Ora
Goodwin Roop. Mr. Roop was a well known local businessman, realtor, land
developer, and had been involved in coal mining in West Virginia, and was a
past member of the Pulaski Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his
wives, Elizabeth Shanklin Roop, and Thelma Large Roop, and a grandson, Eric
Todd Roop. He is survived by one son, Paul Scott Roop of Jackson Hole,
Wyoming; one daughter, Elizabeth Roop Ross of East Lansing, Michigan; one
sister, Mrs. Helen Dale Osborne of Port Orange, Florida; one brother, Ralph
G. Roop of Richmond; three grandchildren, Mark S. Roop, Blacksburg, Alan S.
Ross, Lansing, Michigan, and J. Michael Ross of Portage, Michigan; and three
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 18,
2000, at Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home with Dr. W. Randall Frye
officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
Visiting will be anytime Saturday, and the family will receive friends
Saturday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was a member of the First
Pentecostal Holiness Church in Radford. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Frank and Vleda Walker, her loving husband, Perry Roop, Sr., one
son, Perry Roop, Jr. and three grandchildren. Surviving are a son, Lewis
Roop of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Betty McCoy and Jeanette Nelson,
both of Radford; a daughter-in-law, Louise Roop of Belspring; and a sister,
Ruth Akers of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren; sixteen
great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funera
l services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2001 at The DeVilbiss
Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Walker, Rev. Eddie Roop and Rev. Ray Franklin
officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. The family
will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at The
DeVilbiss Funeral Home.
