Bob McGinn, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: The five-year contract that linebacker Clay Matthews signed July 31 is worth $9.925 million but has sweeteners that could bring its total value to $13.275 million. Matthews was guaranteed $7.105 million.
The guaranteed money includes a signing bonus of $800,000 and an option bonus of $3.72 million. He received a roster bonus of $750,000 for reporting to training camp. Next year, he will receive a roster bonus of $1.525 million just by meeting minimum playing-time standards in '09.
His base salaries are $310,000 this year, $1.325 million in 2010, $1.590 million in 2011 and $1.855,000 in 2012 and $805,000 in 2013. When the Packers pay the option bonus, his base salaries will be $395,000 in 2010, $660,000 in 2011, $800,000 in 2012 and $805,000 in 2013.
Brian McIntyre, Yahoo Sports: Matthews could have increased his 2013 salary by up to $3.1 million based on his playing-time and nearly reached the maximum amount of salary escalation. Matthews is now slated to make $3.73 million in 2013, coming up $175,000 short after failing to achieve 85 percent playing-time in two of his four seasons in the NFL (2009, 2012).
Bob McGinn, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: The Green Bay Packers gave linebacker Clay Matthews a signing bonus of $20.5 million Wednesday as part of his five-year, $66 million extension. Including the restructured portion of his 2013 contract, the total cash value of the six years is $69.77 million. None of the base salaries are guaranteed, leaving the guaranteed portion of the deal at $20.5 million. Matthews will count $6.71 million against the salary cap this year before his cap charge swells to $11.1 million in 2014. His other cap salaries will be $12.7 million in 2015, $13.75 million in 2016, $15.2 million in 2017 and $11.4 million in 2018. This year, Matthews' base salary of $3.73 million was reduced to $1.02 million but his workout bonus was increased from $40,000 to $500,000.
Here is the breakdown of the new money in the Matthews' deal: 2014: $1 million base salary, $5 million roster bonus due on the third day of the league year in March, a $500,000 per game roster bonus ($31,250 for each game on the active roster) and a $500,000 workout bonus. 2015: $7.6 million base salary, $500,000 per game roster bonus and $500,000 workout bonus. 2016: $8.65 million base salary, $500,000 per game roster bonus and $500,000 workout bonus. 2017: $10.1 million base salary, $500,000 per game roster bonus and $500,000 workout bonus. 2018: $10.4 million base salary, $500,000 per game roster bonus and $500,000 workout bonus.

The trade is believed to be conditional, meaning that if Milburn doesn't meet certain criteria in Chicago, the Packers will receive nothing. The deal voids the April 21 deal in which the Packers obtained Milburn from another NFC Central Division team, the Detroit Lions, for a conditional seventh-round draft choice… Milburn's $800,000 base salary now counts against the Bears' salary cap and not Green Bay's.

Bob McGinn, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Morgan, who became an important part of the team's offense late last season, signed a one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers Thursday… Zucker wouldn't reveal terms of Morgan's deal, but it is expected to be better than his $215,000 contract in 1994.
Tom Mulhern, Madison Capital Times: Morgan, who signed a one-year deal for $ 350,000 this year, would like a long-term contract.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Morgan's three-year, $2 million contract included a $450,000 signing bonus and base salaries of $450,000 in 1996, $500,000 in '97 and $600,000 in '98. His previous deal averaged $350,000.
Madison Captial Times: It took about $ 450,000 and some serious groveling to lure Morgan back because he was still mad about getting cut.
Steve Morley
Tom Silverstein, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: the team paid more than $135,000 in signing bonus money to a slew of rookie free agents, including $100,000 to former Canadian Football League offensive lineman Steve Morley.
