II Accounts
The Boxmaster’s Cash Account for the year ended 15th September 1948 was submitted along with the relative Vouchers and these were approved.
III Election of Office Bearers
(a) Deacon. On the Motion of Deacon Robert Duncan seconded by Convener A S Drummond Mr George Melville was unanimously elected Deacon for the ensuing year. Deacon Melville was accordingly installed in Office and received the Insignia and Staff.
(a) Boxmaster. On the motion of the Deacon seconded by Bailie William Clerk, Mr Andrew Wallace was unanimously elected Boxmaster for the ensuing year.
(c) Committee. it was intimated that the following Members retired and were not eligible for re-election at his meeting: Messers Andrew Black, Henry G Thomson, R Lee Chalmers and Dr Noel Nelson.
The following Members were elected to the Committee to fill he above vacancies and to hold Office for two years viz> Messers George Muir J Duncan Dundas Matthew Waddell and john Johnston.
(d) Clerk. Mr Douglas D Urquhart was unanimously re-elected as Clerk to the Craft.
IV New Members,
It was intimated that an Initiation Meeting had been previously fixed for Friday 17th December.
V. Deacons Badges.
The Deacons Badges were presented by the Deacon to the following:

II. Benevolent Fund
It was agreed to establish a Benevolent Fund out of which Grants can be made to Members & their dependents in need of financial assistance. It was also agreed to transfer £10 from the General Fund of the Craft to the Benevolent Fund and to apply to Members for Subscriptions to the Fund at all the Meetings of the Craft.

I Death of Deacon George Melville
The Chairman referred to the lamented death on 23rd March of Deacon George Melville and to the consequent cancellation which he & Mr Duncan and the Boxmaster had instructed of the Initiation Meeting arranged for 24th March.
On the motion of the chairman it was unanimously agreed to record the Committee’s regret at the passing of the Deacon who had been held in high regard by the Craft for the benefit of which he had done so much.
II Special General Meeting for Election of Deacon
It was agreed to call a Special General Meeting to be held in the City Chambers in the afternoon on an early date for the purpose of electing a Deacon to fill the vacancy caused by the late Mr Melville’s death.
III Annual General Meeting
It was agreed to hold the Annual General Meeting in the Royal Hotel on a date in the month of October to be arranged by the Clerk.

I. Death of Decon George Melville.
Whilst he Members stood the Chairman paid a moving tribute to the late Deacon George Melville whose death had come as a great shock to his fellow craftsmen and whose loss as a good man, a firm friend and an exemplary member of the Craft they all deplored.
II Death of Convener Henry Main
The Chairman also referred to the great loss the Craft had sustained through the recent death of Ex-Convener Henry Main CBE. Who had before, during and after his period of Office as Deacon always taken a lively and kindly interest in the welfare of the Craft.
III. Election of Deacon
On the motion of the Chairman seconded by Sir Garnet Wilson the Meeting unanimously elected Mr Andrew Wallace as Deacon of the Craft to fill the vacancy caused by the death of George Melville.
Deacon Wallace was then installed in Office and received the Insignia.
IV. Appointment of Interim Boxmaster
On the motion of the Deacon seconded by Mr John M Robb, Mr Douglas D Urquhart the Clerk to he Craft was unanimously appointed Interim Boxmaster to hold office until he Annual General Meeting.

I. Minute
The Minutes of Meetings of Committee held on 21st September and 23rd December 1948 and 2nd March and 4th May 1949 were read and approved.
II. Accounts
The Boxmaster’s Cash Account for the year ended 15th September 1949 was submitted along with the relative Vouchers and Securities. The same having been examined and approved the Cash Book was docqueted as correct. There was also submitted to the Meeting the Account of Charge & Discharge of the Boxmaster’s Intromissions for the year ended 15h September 1949 whereof an Abstract is annexed hereto and which was examined and approved by the Meeting.
III. Clerk’s Salary
The Committee fixed the Clerk’s Salary for the year ended 15th September 1949 at £31.10/-.
IV. Election of Boxmaster
It was unanimously agreed to recommend to he Special General Meeting the election of Mr J A Davidson as Boxmaster to he Craft.
V. Annual General Meeting
It was arranged to hold the Annual General Meeting of the Craft on Friday 28th October within the Royal Hotel and the Deacon intimated that after the Meeting he would entertain the Members to an informal Supper.
