CAMP ACTIVITIES:
Removal of scattered vegetation and architectural elements.
Collection and recording of data.
Reintegration of structures. Prior to the above, graphic and
photographic documentation will be prepared.
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES:
Excursions and visits: Granada (Alhambra, Albaicín), Córdoba
(Madinat Al-Zahra, Mezquita), Cueva de las Ventanas.
Workshops: Photography, dancing, massage, masks, paper bags and
soap making, rhythm and percussion.
Social evenings,parties, leisure activities provided by the Town
Hall of Alcalá la Real.
Visits to the most emblematic places of Alcálá la Real.
ACCOMMODATION/FOOD.- School Residence ´Simeón Oliver´ - Camino
Nuevo, s/n - Alcalá la Real (Jaen).
LOCATION.- Alcalá la Real is located 75 km. from Jaén, and 57 km.
from Granada. The work will be carried out in the Castle of la
Mota, that is an ancien moslem fortress, rebuilt between XIII and
XV centuries. With its rich history and beautiful surrounds, the
fortress is of both historic and environmental importance. Of
further significance is its location on the important cultural
route, ´Ruta del Califato del Legado Andalusí´.
TRAVELLING INSTRUCTIONS.- By bus from Granada (ALSINA GRAELLS
Company), Jaen and Córdoba (Autobuses CARRERAS).
MEETING POINT.- The first day, in the afternoon, in the School
Residence ´Simeón Oliver´.

Description of Workcamp:
REGION.- Region of Andalucía. Province of Sevilla.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK.- The work will take place in an area of the
environment of the amphitheatre building of Italica, helping to
improve its final image and it would be incorporated into the
recovery process of the Theatre:
Archaeological jobs entailing cleaning and itemising structures
that make up the amphitheatre building.
Planimetric and photographic documentation.
Completing a diagnosis file.
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES.-
Excursions and visits: Itálica´s archaeological sites, Sevilla
(Provincial Archaeological Museum, Lebrija´s house, Cathedral
and Old Royal Palace), Theme Park Isla Mágica; Archaeological
sites of Baelo Claudia and Bolonia beach (Cádiz).
Workshops: sexuality, intercultural dinner.
Sports activities and swimming pool.
Animation activities: group dynamics, night outings.
LOCATION.- Santiponce, with a population of approx. 7.600
inhabitants, is situated 7 Km. from the city of Sevilla. It was
built almost entirely on the ruins of the Roman city Itálica
towards the end of the 16th Century, and occupies the ancient
city´s original nucleus. A major part of Itálica unfolds in the
subsoil of the town´s historical centre. The city, founded by
Escipion in the year 206 B.C., was in fact the first Roman city
in the Iberian peninsula. Today we can admire remains of
extraordinary value: its houses with beautiful mosaics, still
paved streets, original sewers, thermae and, above all, a
magnificent amphitheatre, the Roman Empire´s third largest in
capacity. Likewise, the monastery San Isidoro del Campo is also
worth highlighting, housing extraordinary 17th and 18th Century
works of art.

Development of archaeological planimetries of Mozarabic
troglodyte sites.
Introduction and development of archaeological surveys.
Conditioning and cleaning of the surroundings of the site.
Rehabilitation of the historic footpaths of the township.
Activities to find out more about managing mapping, GPS, data
sheets and record sheets.
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES - LEISURE ACTIVITIES.-
Creating study rooms for the development of photographic and
documentary work.
Design of trail routes related to the activity.
Physical and sports activities in the environment: climbing,
abseiling, caving, orienteering, hiking, etc.
Workshops: animation, craftsmanship, expression, painting,
decoration, games and audio-visual displays, etc.
Evening entertainment activities, farewell party. Swimming pool.
LOCATION.- Cañete La Real, is in the region of Antequera and near

Description of Workcamp:
REGION.- Region of Andalucía. Province of Almería.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK.-
Collective artistic creations consisting of pieces of sculpture,
paintings, photographs, etc as an expression of the communal
creation process.
Voluntary work at the 1st Art and Ecology Festival of Almócita:
Organisational (diffusion, scheduling, management of spaces,
etc), logistical (setting up and dismantling stands, display and
stage spaces, resource management, etc), artistic (preparing
shows, exhibitions, workshops, etc).
Coordination and assessment meetings to be held every day.
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES.-
Las Alpujarras with all five senses. Landscape and art workshops.
Visit to the ´Canales de Padules´, the National and Natural
Resort of Sierra Nevada and the Natural Resort of Cabo de Gata,
Níjar.
Trips around the Almócita area.
ACCOMMODATION.- Municipal facilities - Glorieta de la
Constitución, 1 - Almocita (Almería).
LOCATION.- Located in a valley between the Sierra Nevada and
Sierra de Gádor mountain ranges, Almócita is in the Alpujarra of
Almería (Sierra Nevada Mountain Range). Half way between the sea
(the coast of Almería and the beaches of Cabo de Gata) and the
sky (the summits of Sierra Nevada), Almócita offers visitors some
weather conditions that may vary considerably within a few
kilometres. Only 54 km away from the capital, Almócita is like a
balcony overlooking beautiful landscapes to be admired with all
five senses. In this municipality in the Alpujarras they have
been doing collective creation activities that have contributed
to the embellishment of its streets, to fostering social
participation, etc. New ideas are also being launched, such as
the ‘Foro por Almócita’, a forum whose values are sustainable
development, ecology, culture, health and art, and an initiative
has been launched to create a festival that will boost these
values. The aim of this work is to promote the first edition of
the Art and Ecology Festival of Almócita.

Optional: camera, musical instruments, some typical food to share
with the group, some clothes that can spot and throw. If you have
any artistic ability, personal work materials (paint,
photography, sculpture, writing, theater, music, etc.).

Description of Workcamp:
REGION.- Region of Andalucía. Province of Córdoba.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK.- Recovery of caliphal decorative material
and other archaeological materials: cleaning, sorting and
marking. Work to support the undertakings scheduled as part of
the project for the research and relocation of these materials at
different locations on the site. Work at the various departments
of the Archaeology Site to get to know internal work, and the
necessary steps for recovery and preservation.
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES.-
Excursions and visits: area of Madinat Al-Zahara (bridges,
aqueducts, quarries, etc.), Córdoba (monuments, museums,
districts, etc), Granada (Alhambra Palace, Albaycín).
Activities to learn more about: Al-Andalus, Cordoba, Madinat
Al-Zahra.
Workshops; theatre, juggling, etc.
Sporting and aquatic activities. Swimming pool.

ACCOMMODATION/FOOD.- Youth Hostel ´Córdoba´ - Plaza Juda Levi
s/n (Córdoba).
LOCATION.- In the archaeological site of Madinat Al-Zahra located
on the Palma de Río road, some 10mk. From Cordoba. The city
contains very significant treasures of Andalusian gum Arabic art.
Few cities can claim to have an entire ancient califal city so
nearby. Madinat Al-Zahra, an emblematic place given its rich
history, is surrounded by a large natural area where one can
enjoy nature, culture and urban pleasures at the same time, and
is considered to be one of the highlights of Islamic art, thanks
to its structure and urban layout, alongside the diversity of
materials used, the architectural solutions used and the
extraordinary wealth and quality of its decorations. It is a
magnificent legacy, which since its creation has become a legend
and represents, along with the Aljama Mosque, the essence of one
of the most important periods of history on the Iberian
Peninsula. the splendour of the caliphate; and Cordoba, together
with Baghdad, is the more important city and boasts the greatest
cultural splendour of the time, highlighting the period of the
caliph Al-haKan II.

Description of Workcamp:
REGION.- Region of Andalucía. Province of Cádiz.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK.-
Inventorying the status of the housing ruins in Montes de Jerez
de la Frontera: location and description.
Rebuilding stone walls using the ´drywall´ technique (Quejigal
House) typical of this type of mountain construction.
Cleaning the building materials strewn around the area; cutting
and pruning the vegetation.
Designing teaching materials and explicative signage on the
traditional constructions and ways of life. Life-size scale model
of a charcoal kiln.
Development of exhibition panels on the Montes Propios.
Information and awareness activities in Algar. Meeting with young
people from the area.
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES.-
Workshops: arts and crafts, juggling, fauna and flora, medicinal
plants, candles, trust games, orientation and story-telling
workshops.
Sports activities: introduction to abseiling and climbing,
archery, trekking and canoeing.
Trips and visits: Cádiz and Jerez de la Frontera, Bolonia beach
and the Roman Remains of Baelo Claudia, the Ferret Reservoir.
Trip to a corkage area.

ACCOMMODATION/FOOD.- In ´Cortijo Rojitán´ - Road Jerez-Cortes
Km. 56 (9 km. from Algar) - Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz)
LOCATION.- In the area of the Local Mountains of Jerez de la
Frontera in the ´Los Alcornocales´ Natural Resort. This resort
is 167,000 ha in surface and it is one of the major forest areas
in Andalucía. The Montes Propios site in Jerez is around 60km
from Jerez de la Frontera and about 9km from Algar. Among the
local produce from this land we find cork, game and retinto-breed
cattle. It is distinguished for a wide diversity of ecosystems,
and it is the home to many animal and plant species: gall oaks,
wild olives, deer, boars, foxes, etc. The work will be developed
on various paths of this area that are frequently used by Nature
Park visitors.
TRAVELLING INSTRUCTIONS.- By bus from Sevilla (LINESUR Company)
and from Cádiz (COMES Company) to Jerez de la Frontera.
